It is *EXTREMELY RARE* to catch a Severe Thunderstorm Warning on mobile (for EAS), now that is very interesting

Probably cuz it has to be around as severe as this scenario to go on iPhones. I feel like even though even minor storms can be dangerous, iphones are unlikely to alert you unless the alert is severe enough. It only alerts you typically for Amber Alerts, flash flood warnings, or tornado warning

@@jimsdog23 WEA is only used for Severe thunderstorm warnings when they’re tagged destructive, that’s when they have either 80+ MPH winds or baseball size hail or larger, They can’t go off for normal or considerable tagged severe thunderstorm warnings at all, also it’s not the iPhone that chooses to alert you it’s the NWS sending the message

There is but it’s called a Pds Severe Thunderstorm Warning. It has winds over 80 mph or hail above 2.75 inches. I think that the Severe Thunderstorm Emergency you were saying I think should be winds over 100 or hail over 3.5 inches

this also reminds me of the strong storms that hit my area last may. during the night. multiple 70 - 80 MPH winds svr's were issued. it even said "THIS IS A DESTRUCTIVE STORM FOR" . it was real bad.

I was in a PDS tornado watch and eventually a severe thunderstorm warning (for 70 MPH wind gusts) on Friday, March 31, 2023, when parts of southeast Iowa had a very rare high risk of severe weather. Tornado warnings just missed my area to the north and west. As a result of the damaging wind gusts, my power went out for 10 to 12 hours into the following morning and there were branches falling and part of a large tree got downed on my family's property. I am OK, but eastern Iowa and surrounding areas have another moderate risk of severe thunderstorms for Tuesday, April 4, 2023 - not even a week after the high risk I just mentioned! Are you doing alright?
