In this video, I apply Adobe Lightroom's new Denoise AI feature to a night photo taken at a high ISO of 51,200 and see if the images can recovered from a sea of noise. Is the noise reduction feature capable of rescuing these images?

I think its quite incredible really how far image edits has gone and what we can extract from our photos. Noise reduction on an ISO 51,200 turned out better than expected! Thanks for the entertainment.

I use it, but in some cases it goes too crazy making things look like a painting and distorts the shapes, but as long as the image is not too noisy it does not do that, it works superbly, even brings out the detail and colour. I guess this is what you meant by plastic feel to the image. So just check if it did that. Also textured areas will get ruined too, so I use two versions in Photoshop anda mask and brush away the crazy areas. But I think it depends a lot on the subject.

I agree with you about it going crazy as well as it producing artifacts. I’ve noticed that with Lr’s Denoise AI, there is seems to be sweet spot for each image and when you go over, you get more of those artifacts. With this night image, there is still a bit of splotchyness left in the sky, but if I pushed the noise reduction more, I get Denoising artifacts in the cityscape. Overall I was really impressed at how it was able to recover it with the quantity of noise present, astounded really. Have you tried Topaz AI or any other tools? Does it handle denoising artifacts differently? Always happy to take recs.

Do use topaz lab's Denoise? Would be interesting to compare the result.

You know, I have actually! I do astrophotography and I’ve looked into it as a viable option to remove noise in the post work flow and it worked extremely well if used very conservatively. That’s a good idea! I really appreciate the suggestion. People do like comparison videos. It would build off this video. Thank you for replying and sharing your thoughts.

@@deepskypics Hi Nick. Yes with Jon Anderson is one of my absolutely favorite bands. That means you sounded very good, of course.👍 I can see you're not only good photographer but also very talented musician. I hope you not only play guitar but also sing using you original voice. If not, I am sure you should. Greetings from Poland!😊

@@MrWitmis haha I have never fully tested my singing voice. I think you have more confidence in it then me. I’m glad you found my old Joe Satriani cover. Greetings from Denver Colorado! ✌️ Since my earlier videos, I’ve really worked on the technicalities of lighting and sound so I’m happy to hear good feedback. Im using a 3D printed DIY mic intended to be similar to the hailed and infamous Shure SM7B.
