Not bad. Personally I prefer more rich blacks in my dramatic images. Thank you for sharing. I learned some nice techniques to add to my workflow.

Excellent! This is the "art" part of photo processing…knowing what effect you are after is every bit as important as knowing how to manipulate the controls in LR.

Mark, I am enjoying your preset pack very much. With the Dark and Dramatic presets, it increases the exposure and brightness significantly. Am I using them incorrectly?
@MarkDumbleton4 ай бұрын
Thanks so much for sharing your thoughts. Remember, presets are just a good starting point, and they all need tweaking. It all depends on what your initial photo exposure is. If your photo is bright, it will react differently with the presets to a photo that is slightly underexposed. You’re not doing anything wrong 😊 just adjust the exposure slider or reduce the contrast.

I just started playing with the D&D presets. They're great, thanks! I think I need to develop a new eye for editing in this style cuz I like the look.

Excellent tutorial. My images tend to look like your "before" version in part because I didn't know how to get to the look of the "after". Thanks for showing me how I might get there. One question - when you open up the shadows and blacks so much, do you introduce noise into your images? If so, do you denoise them before working with blacks and shadows?
@MarkDumbleton Жыл бұрын
Thanks for the comment Robert. One unavoidable effect of opening up the shadows is the increase in noise. This can be cleaned up easily using the new AI DENOISE in Lightroom. I have a video about the DENOISE in Lightroom which goes in depth on what it actually does to the images.

Did you make all the presets yourself? How do you make presets for just the color grading or just the highlights. Didn’t know that was possible.
@MarkDumbleton8 ай бұрын
Yes I made them myself. When you create the preset, you’re given the option to choose which settings get saved with the preset.

Wow I pay for Lightroom every month but have only used PS up until now >> Problem is its a small thing >> My Raw NEFs are straight into Bridge and I want them to go to Lightroom instead of PS >> I have battled over the years but Mark I am not ashamed to admit it >> My computer skills are a bit backward Great to have connected again and I have subscribed.. I have thousands of images processed in Adobe Camera RAW can these be opened into LR afterwards like mine go to PS when I open after doing the RAW conversion ???
@MarkDumbleton Жыл бұрын
Hi Peter, if you have a .XMP file associated with your .NEF files you can import them into LR and the edits will show. If you have no .XMP files then the image will show with no edits.

I started playing around with the Dark & Dramatic presets. They seem to brighten up my images a hellavu lot. I suppose you have to add the vignette to it to darken it again
@MarkDumbleton Жыл бұрын
Hi Jackie, it does largely depend on the brightness of your image, but apply the preset and then adjust the exposure slider accordingly. Adding a vignette will darken the edges nicely.
@stevemckenzie47312 жыл бұрын
Hey Mark, are the presets created in the .xmp format? Would need to use them in ACR.

Hi Steve, yeah they are .XMP so it will work in ACR no problem. Drop a reply if you struggle with them 👍🏻
