I don't really think it's fair for people to say her talent is questionable after watching this video. Most people who have said that probably don't even know who she is. She's mainly an electro-pop artist, and we should be thankful that she's willing to step out of her comfort zone and do something different. It takes a huge amount of courage to do that. She also writes, produces, and sings her own songs. Isn't that talent? It's rare that a pop artist can play acoustically and still shine :)

Being able to sing and knowing how to sing are two different things. A lot of people can sing, but you barely ever see anyone who knows how to controll their voice perfectly to suit the song. Thats why this is so beautiful. Because not only can she sing, but she also knows how to sing and make this song more beautiful than the original.

This song for me takes me to my teenage years. For me there were wastelands I encountered on a magic carpet ride. ;-). But this cover Behind Blue Eyes really made a strong impression on me. Lights or as she calls herself puts an acoustical power behind this raw lyric. Her vocals burn with the heat of a coal furnace, hot and whispery. The Who should be pleased with her performance. I will be looking for more of her work.

First time it was 105 degrees here in Las Cruces, New Mexico at Warped Tour; but she stayed at her both after her performance and signed everything and took photos with all of us. The only problem I have with this cover is that in my opinion shes not 'Behind' the words of the song. To me "behind blue eyes" lyrically you NEED to breathe each word as if its your last one. The song shows inner strength, inner turmoil, helplessness and yet perseverance - " If I swallow anything evil Put your finger down my throat". She's trying I just think her vocals are too 'light' for the song. just my opinion though.

She's quite talented, but this particular rendition really didn't do justice to the original, in my opinion. Of course no cover should ever sound just like the original; that's not my point. Even the Limp Bizkit cover retained some of the emotion of the original. This version just just seems really dry, its missing a lot of depth. I'm not criticizing her as a musician, I just don't think this particular song was done very well.

Everyone is giving harsh criticism when they don't even know the difference between a musician, producer, studio-produced or live produced track. This is a live track, obviously it's raw. The other Limp Bizkit cover and the original are produced with effects and vocal doubling which gives it a drastic effect for the song to sound more "emotional" to what most of you are trying to refer to... Anyways, not every live performance is raw. Sometimes for live shows they have the sound engineers in the back controlling the levels and effects of the band playing. She sang it in a way that makes her feel comfortable, and it sounded great. To most of you saying, "this is horrible" or "she needs to sing more breathy"... please. She's a talented artist with her own unique style. Maybe some of the lyrics are missing, but this is a cover. Anything can go down when it's a cover. Covers are supposed to feel fun to play or sing.

I related to this song and it made me cry so much. I've been bullied most of my life, not the straight up 'push you to the ground and call you names' kind, but the kind that involves never being invited to things, being laughed at and mistreated in a way that makes you feel like you're worthless. LIGHTS helped me through all of that, especially giving me the courage to leave a toxic group of people who treated me like a punching bag. All the people who say this song lacks emotion and meaning just can't look past the original. I know it's a hard thing to not compare it to the original song or a more popular cover, but I'm just asking you to try. Because although it's an acoustic version and her voice doesn't portray a lot of emotion (I do agree on that, but keep reading) in my opinion it does portray how you feel when the things in the lyrics has happened to you. Speaking from personal experience, when you're beaten down and broken you stop trying. You stop caring. You end up giving up on all hope and living life like a robot, because anytime you let down your wall and show any emotion, it's backfired. To me this song represented someone clinging onto the last bit of hope and finally opening up to someone about how she feels. In her voice you can hear desperation and hope, but also a kind of broken sound, like she knows that it's just going to hurt her. In the second pre-chorus/chorus (but my dreams...) you can feel the desperation growing. It's like she's trying to claw her way out of the situation she's in, kind of like a dying struggle or a surge of adrenaline. It dies off a little in the next part, before surging again in the third pre-chorus/chorus (but my dreams...). It's almost as if her sadness is consuming her and she's making final sprints to try to make it to the finish line. Once she's finished that the guitar slows and the sadness swallows her. It's like her final dying words. So maybe I'm overthinking this, but to me this song is so much more than a cover. And if you're reading this, thanks for taking a few minutes out of your time so to listen to my opinion.
