@@scapegoatiscariot2767 Actually the lyric is "If my fist clenches crack it open, before I use it *to* lose my cool". Nothing mysterious about that, it is asking someone to help you keep your head and not get violent. Not only is it not a mysterious lyric, it is a phrase we could all stand to live by these days.

@@geoffreylogsdon162 Incorrect. There’s no “to”, it’s “and lose my cool”. Same effect, but different wording. It’s mysterious in the sense you can’t know exactly what Townshend meant, but it’s as clear as you say in its effect it has on the listener.

Met Mr Daltrey a couple of years ago at Charing Cross Station while waiting for a train...believe he was coming back from a day at Wimbledon, had seen him guest at a Weller gig in the woods at Pinerum Forest Preserve the previous weekend ... was a total gent, funny & self effacing sense of humour, more than happy to expend 5 minutes chatting to a total fan... always great when ur legends turn out to be even more awesome than you dared to hope LoL

@user-zy1hh2wb6g you my friend, are completely clueless. His voice has changed and the raw emotion in this version is phenomenal. If you've only listened to a couple of studio tracks, you really have no idea what you're talking about. That's not live music. Daltrey in particular has a fantastic range, depth and tone that really can only be appreciated in the flesh. I'd suggest you put away spotify and invest your money where real coniseurs do... I feel fortunate that I got to see them 30+ years ago. Even then I considered them old when I saw them at the old Meadowlands stadium when they played the entire Tommy album for the first half of the show and then played the rest of their hits the 2nd half. Ox was still alive then too but sadly not Moon the Loon. Great show with Kenny Jones on drums. The music is timeless.
