Rudy is right when it comes to the expanded explanation of the politics of the star wars universe. We actually finally understood what the motives were behind the various entities in the universe instead of the bad guys (the empire) being to control/kill everything. Taxation and trade embargoes may seem like things that don't make sense in the plot of movies if you are in middle school but they are a crucial part of foreign policy in the real world and they represent the same actions used by some of the worlds biggest imperialists (which was the entire inspiration for Star Wars with the US being the imperialists forcing their policy and war on the Vietnamese rebels).
