So as a personal testimony to all here, for your encouragement, and growth in the Christian life, I prayed to God on how I become more Holy, and He led me to read and know about the Puritans. Folks, if you want to grow in holiness, understand and read the Puritans.

1Cor.1:30, But of Him are ye in Christ Jesus, who of God is made unto us...sanctification/holiness... Christ is our 'righteousness AND sanctification AND redemption' AND before that 'wisdom'. Sanctification is not abstract nor a beauty that we achieve by our endeavors and pains, but is 'Christ in us', 'living in us' and loving in us. Christ is the 'beauty of holiness' shining through the cracks of 'earthen vessels' which are 'looking unto Jesus' in their strivings 'against sin', while He perfects us in the faith. Puritans are great for devotions and godly thoughts, but can be mystical and abstract sometimes. John Preston's 'Breastplate of Faith and Love' sees Christ as our ALL, exhorting believers to 'take Him as their Husband and Lord' in every thing, so as to 'give thanks in every thing', 'doing every thing as unto Him' and 'for His glory'. This is how we 'follow after... holiness, without which no man shall see the Lord'. The Person and work of Christ must be our 'rejoicing' and first love 'in simplicity and godly sincerity' always.

What would you say are the top puritan books on the holiness of God? Besides the greats like Body of Divinity and Charnock's massive book on attributes, are there any books which are specifically on this one theme (similar to the Forgiveness of Sins or Fear of the Lord by William Bates)? One deep dive on this topic?

It's a terrible thing we have to refer to the puritans who lived hundreds of years ago to talk about holiness. Never mind what the puritans said, the Bible says now, without holiness no man shall see the LORD. Those that remain in sin are not saved! They will never be sanctified. Sin must be given up instantly! It is the Holy Spirit who will keep you from sin. Those who are stuck in sin have never repented, and don't have the Spirit, they are Satan's captives. If they profess faith they are deceived.

Modern churches forget to teach holiness to their members. It is a passing remark. The modern churches teach happiness. 😅

One might consult Rebecca Nurse regarding the holiness of the puritans. This is another arrogant admonishing of works which God has already decreed to be as filthy rags before Him. If the is any holiness inside the elect it comes solely from Christ within and not from the flesh which is dead in trespasses and sin.
