"The Bible is authoritative on everything of which it speaks. Moreover, it speaks of everything." ― Cornelius Van Til John Macarthur talked about poverty and he said there are 3 causes, 2 we are supposed to help those caught up in and one we are not "He who will not work, neither shall he eat either". One cause is government corruption. The other is calamity, so called "natural disasters. The third is laziness. And we are not have sympathy for laziness. "I am for doing good to the poor, but...I think the best way of doing good to the poor, is not making them easy in poverty, but leading or driving them out of it. I observed...that the more public provisions were made for the poor, the less they provided for themselves, and of course became poorer. And, on the contrary, the less was done for them, the more they did for themselves, and became richer." -- Benjamin Franklin “You cannot legislate the poor into prosperity by legislating the wealthy out of prosperity. What one person receives without working for another person must work for without receiving. The government cannot give to anybody anything that the government does not first take from somebody else. When half of the people get the idea that they do not have to work because the other half is going to take care of them and when the other half gets the idea that it does no good to work because somebody else is going to get what they work for that my dear friend is the beginning of the end of any nation. You cannot multiply wealth by dividing it.” ― Adrian Rogers “There is no virtue in compulsory government charity, and there is no virtue in advocating it. A politician who portrays himself as "caring" and "sensitive" because he wants to expand the government's charitable programs is merely saying that he's willing to try to do good with other people's money. Well, who isn't? And a voter who takes pride in supporting such programs is telling us that he'll do good with his own money-if a gun is held to his head.” ― P.J. O'Rourke "What is your 'fair share' of what someone else has worked for?" -- Thomas Sowell

Odd to think that just a bit over two years after preaching this sermon, R.C. went home to be with the Lord.

What's odd about that? Could have been 1 year or 4?

What is odd, is that I only discovered RC about a year ago and have lived 10 minutes from Ligonier Pennsylvania all my life. I'm 56.

@Gregory Prevenslik well, they did move the ministry campus down to Sanford Florida in 1984. So, its not as if they were sitting there this whole time ignoring you like Bill in the comments would like to imply

@Bill Baehr I bet I could find many Ligoneer students who've evangelised more than you. However, with your focus so much on our works I wonder if you're trying to earn your salvation
