Hi Steve, I used plexiglass to build my lightboard, as many people recommended. I used dry chalk markers and it looked amazing. Then I wiped it to clean it and the result is a complete disaster. It’s completely ruined. I’ve tried many different cleaners to get it clean and nothing works. I’ll make a quick video to show you. I’m now thinking to change the glass. I’m so confused as to how this has happened.

Hi Sam How frustrating. My board is glass but is never perfectly clean. Most of the smudges disappear through the camera settings.

gurudut cotipalli oh I understand your question now. I use Camtasia, however it is not free. Some versions of VLC player can do it, so can Handbrake. There are others, let me look into it and get back to you.

@@gurudutcotipalli9366 A colleague of mine uses a webcam that flips the video in the camera. Likewise some of the DSLRs will flip in the camera too. Another option is to use a mirror at 90 degrees! I think being able to use the lightboard for live lessons is a great idea. But I don't have the solution for you. I will ask my Twitter colleagues.

gurudut cotipalli I think the LED strip needs to be on the glass edge. However it is just trial and error so see what works for you.

Dear Steve Griffiths, great video, as all others videos that you have produced about your lightboard!! I'm trying to build one for my lessons (I'm a Physics teacher) and I have one doubt, about the kind of glass. Well, in fact, extra clear glass is very very expensive in Brazil. On the other hand, I don't know any seller that sells plexyglass. So, I'm trying to build a lightboard with a piece of commom glass. It is a clear glass, but it is not a extra clear one. So, my doubt is about this point. Is it possible to have a good result, using a common glass?? Thank you very much!

@@SteveGriffithsvideo dear!! Thank you so much for your kind and fast answer. Well... In fact, I have two more doubts. I've already seen several others videos of your playlist about lightboards. And, in one of them, you have showed how you have built a little lightboard.This is video (Making my lightboard in NZ - kzbin.info/www/bejne/eaKqkJ59lM6amck)... In fact, I'm using this your idea to build my lightboard! The doubts are the following: 1) about the led lights. how do you put the strip led lights in the glass? I mean... do you put them ON the glass? Or do you put them AROUND the glass, with the lights pointing to inside the glass?? What option would be best in terms of the total internal reflection in the glass? 2) Considering the weight of the glass, my option was to use a 6mm glass. However, it's common to read or see videos which mention a 10mm glass. Is 6mm a good option??
@edsonwdias4 жыл бұрын
One observation: considering YOUR video mentioned above, I think that the strip led lights should be put AROUND the glass, in the space between the glass and the "wood". Is there any risk of to break the led lights?? oh!! what about the black strip that you put after that??

Edson Dias Central da Física UFSJ hi Edson, you might also like to read my blog post on how to make this light board flippedlearning.org/how_to/how-to-make-a-lightboard-for-less-than-100/. The LED lights go all way around facing into the glass. The NZ light board is only 4mm as this is standard picture frame glass. Normally I use 6mm. You don’t need to use 10mm. Too heavy and too expensive.
@SteveGriffithsvideo4 жыл бұрын
Edson Dias Central da Física UFSJ there is no risk of breaking the LEDs. I have 50kg glass testing on LEDs and there is no issue.

I have my led strips beside the glass and the glass is not sitting on the led strip... Can it be worked that way... please let me know Thank you
@SteveGriffithsvideo4 жыл бұрын
gurudut cotipalli give it a try. But the idea is that the light fills the glass through total internal reflection. So I think it needs to be on the edge otherwise it will just go through the glass to the other side.

Steve Griffiths Sir should the main flux of light should be along the plane of the glas board??? Kindly reply

@@SujitKumar-fh1lf Yes the glass is edge lit so the glass fills with light. The light shines straight into the cut edge of the glass.

Da James the reason we use ultra clear glass is to get maximum penetration of light. Window glass isn’t as good. I have done an experiment with window glass on another video and it worked fairly well though. Make sure you have LEDs all the way around
