I am Somali and my tribe lives in south Somalia now. But we are originally from showa. We was frontier tribe. We left when showa was captured by the abysinians. Later on the families that stayed saved ilyasu and his followers and came to us in South Somalia. Now his descendants are part of our tribe and are Somali.

Now when the Muslims arrived in Abyssinia as persecuted refugees the King al-Najashi (Negus Negast) accepted the Muslims and allowed the Muslims to settle peacefully and to teach this new revelation the Qur'an to the Ethiopian people. al-Najashi converted to Islam and sent his two sons to study Qur'an at the hand of the Prophet Muhammad in Medina. There were many successful Sultanates and Amirates in Ethiopia and Somalia etc. Ethiopians boast much of never being colonized by the West, a true claim indeed BUT HAD MUCH HELP FROM THE ETHIOPIAN MUSLIMS AS WELL. Now Muslims compromise half of the Ethiopian population.

H/Selassie mother name was Jamila Ali. Her brother (H/uncle) name was Jibril. She didn't covert to Orthodox. H/Selassie wife Menon was a Muslim but converted for political reasons. Abiye mother was Orthodox but converted to Islam.

And you're telling me to read my own family history lol. Iyasu had many childs from many different wifes. from all 1was only muslim. 9of them were Orthodox. His parents was Orthodox and all his grandchild's are Orthodox i know some of them personally. I will share you one of his granddaughter saying that "Iyasu was never been a muslim" if you want.
