This boss battle is basicly Leader vs Boss
@ReapingRose1158 ай бұрын
Not a particularly difficult boss fight but it's thematically quite appropriate. It fits the RPG stereotype of the final boss with a God Complex, which is par for the course of many RPGs as well as being a direct contrast to Ichiban. Ichiban's troupe may be small but his heroic and friendly personality makes dedicated friends with many. Compare that with Bryce who leads a fanatical cult that'd die for him. Bryce however is not a hardened Yakuza who can go toe to toe with Ichiban, his strength lies in numbers and political power. Much like Ryo Aoki, once cornered and with no weapons to his name, he'll swing but it's almost pathetic. He threw everything at you and still lost, and considering how much power he had, it's quite cathartic that the underdog crew again from rock bottom, climbed to the top the only way they knew how.

i thought he made more sense as a final boss for kiryu. kiryu’s entire character arc centers around dealing with his mortality, and finding the drive to keep going and keep making the world a better place. bryce is the perfect opposite of this: he’s someone whose awareness of his mortality led to him doing shady shit that is completely unsustainable. while kiryu worked to leave the world better than he found it, bryce’s actions hinged on him not caring what happens after he’s gone. bryce’s nuclear waste scheme is totally unsustainable, but he doesn’t care, cuz he’s gonna die soon anyway.
@aicai.9 ай бұрын
@@VioletOrbWeaver kiryu's character arc revolves more around his regrets and him trying to atone for the errors of the yakuza and the tojo clan, given that he is an icon of the tojo that represents the yakuza lifestyle. Fighting Ebina, a victim of the yakuza that had his revenge stolen from him after the dissolution, which made him desperatly refuse to let go and try to punish all of the ex-yakuza for what he went through, is a good way of wrapping up kiryu's arc of atoning for his and the yakuza's wrongdoings.

It makes sense, Bryce is basically the polar opposite of Ichiban as both of them and their power is mostly in their “party”, however Ichiban leads his party/friends with love and actually caring for them while Bryce commands his party/followers through just having a cult, using them for all their worth and then killing them without a second thought
@TheMixedPlateFrequency8 ай бұрын
@@elianwilliams I thought it was brilliant that they made Bryce as Ichibans final boss too, and how much stuff Bryce controlled as far as organized crime groups across the world, government sectors from all over the world and various other big and most elite corporations. Idk I think the opposite, I just didn't like Ebina as a villain. At least Bryce was so damn evil that I needed to kick him down and for the music and dynamic intro I disagree hard with you, imo it was so symbolic+I really like choirs, you really did fight a false god and his blinded followers.
@JoshuaPerez-zi7ciАй бұрын
The reason the actual Yakuza protagonists even take off their shirts is to show dedication to who they actually are as a person. It makes sense during this fight because Ichiban is fighting against a heretic who took over being a sage to a religious order and turned it into a cult who uses people like writing on paper and trashing it right after it. Meanwhile Ichiban has spent the better part of (3-4 years) gathering up allies from all walks of life both criminal and semi-legal standards to help fight against corruption and actual evil criminal organizations and leading them to a better life or as better people. It's why people who are ambiguously good like Joongi and Seonhee even decided to help "The Party" in 7 and join officially in 8.

I feel like the true final boss for Ichiban was the Giant Squid. and this battle here with Bryce is just all for pure plot. Just like in Yakuza: Like A Dragon. I feel like Tendo was the true final boss, and anything with the Governor of Tokyo / Masato Arakawa battle at the end was just for pure plot and storyline.
