There are mild sociopathic disorders. Grant's anger management is poor and he looses all sense of empathy for those he is around when he flies into a rage. He slapped his own mother! He is also quite manipulative like a sociopath. He used Tiffany when he didn't really love her to have a child and had an affair with her mother as a way of getting back at her because Tiffany refused to accept his emotionally abusive behaviour towards her. Because he has regrets and minor empathy does not mean he doesn't have sociopathic traits too. It is very well written as not all sociopaths are criminals without a conscience. In Grant's case like most sociopaths, he can fake empathy and remorse very well. The amount of times he cried, claimed to feel guilty and apologised to both Sharon & Tiffany was for show and without any real intention of changing are in every other episode during their relationships. That is sociopathic behaviour! They are master manipulators.

Euro-African But he truly loved Sharon. On the other hand, he never really loved Tiffany, which explains why he had no qualms about sleeping with her mother. He never did anything like that to Sharon. Yes, he slept with Michelle, but that clearly wasn't to get back at her. If it had been, he would have made sure that she found out, but he didn't. Instead, Michelle told Sharon years later. This all demonstrates that he is not a sociopath because sociopaths are not capable of genuine affection. However, Sharon was clearly the love of his life because he has pined after her for twenty years. He hasn't done that with any of his other exes. Also, his most recent behavior has proven that he is capable of genuine selflessness, because he chose not to tell Mark that he was his father out concern for his wellbeing.

Claire Lally I agree that the Grant who has returned to Albert Square recently is completely different to the Grant of the 1990s. You see he and Phil have swapped roles lol. During the 90s it's Grant who is out of control and Phil who is the stable one, and now they've reversed! I think Tiffany's death was a wake up call to him and Grant has tried to change and he does regret treating Sharon the way he did. So the Grant of the 1990s is sociopathic but the Grant of the 2010s has matured and is better at controlling himself.
