Nigel was the one man Grant never lost it with. Its funny how Phil has become the psycho and Grant the calmer one last 10 years
@Hulk2k65 жыл бұрын
Longer. Phil got horrible around 1997 when he started drinking and treating Kathy like shit however, in 1999 he went FULL BASTARD just ahead of the canal plunge and when he sold his half of the Vic to Dan for a fiver just to spite Peggy.

Absolutely superb scene. I really loved Nigel. He was the conscience of the Mitchells. That's gone now. The only one who comes close is Jay.

I feel Phil would not have turned out the nastier Mitchell brother in 2000 had Nigel still been around when Grant left. Phil never mentions Nigel, hope Nige comes back one day. Grant was like a brother to Nigel so would never hit him back but when Nigel hit Grant, Grant would have snapped Nigel in two if he was not a surrogate bruv.

The Grant/Phil/Nigel friendship was one of the best things ever in all soap opera history!!!!!!!

Benjamin Caine Phil mentioned him once in 2010 after Ben hit Jordan with a spanner. He was telling Shirley how Nigel flipped out on a boy that was bullying him at school by pushing him in front of a bus comparing him to Ben lol
@yethboth78738 жыл бұрын
Nigel was Grant's only real friend. The reason why Grant didn't punch him back is because deep down inside he knows that Nigel is right and he made Nigel angry because he wouldn't listen for his own good as well as pushing Nigel away.

Grant was one of the best EastEnders characters in history.

Ever notice how viewers sympathises with Grant despite his abuse of Sharon & Tiff but hated Trevor for abusing little Mo
@danielorourke95476 жыл бұрын
There was a difference between Grant and Trevor. Grant had issues due to his time in the army and usually showed remorse for his actions. Trevor was just an outright bully who never once showed any regret for his actions.
@joestewart-paul71812 жыл бұрын
@@DeepScreenAnalysis Trevor was just a narcissist psychopath with no remorse. Grant on the other hand is more of tragic character with possible PTSD as a result of the Falklands!

I hated how Sharongate was used to reinforce Grant as a villain. People vilified him for beating up Phil, even though Phil literally forced him into it. Sharon was victimized & sympathized with, despite having an ongoing sleazy affair with Grant's brother. People say he "brought it on himself" no, it was established that Grant's violent tendencies were about his War trauma, not about Sharon - he desperately loved her.
@lukethomasdillon37623 жыл бұрын
I dont care how bad Grant was to sharon. What she and Phil did.. is unforgivable. I dunno why Grant is being made to feel guilty here
@iluvlafferty2 жыл бұрын
Totally agree. It was made clear that Grant's violent tendencies were provoked by nightmares he had of the Falklands War. He loved Sharon regardless, and cheating was the worst possible thing she could've done. Worst of all, she did it with the one person who Grant trusted (other than Nigel).

People need to look past Grant's intimidation factor and put themselves in his shoes: how would YOU feel if the two people you loved the most betrayed you in this way? I doubt you would just say "yeah it's all my fault for not being a better husband, you're right; let's move on." No, you'd feel like killing them - or yourself, most likely. I think Ross Kemp portrayed that inner conflict amazingly well.

Nigel might have been the only one who hit Grant Mitchell and never got subsequently beaten to a bloody pulp.

Grant seemed to be at his calmest when he he got punched in the face. Aidan punched him, and so did two Italian men, and he didn't do anything. Same thing with Phil. Phil punched him 1998 and 1999, and Grant didn't retaliate.

Can tell how much grant must have respected Nigel here, there wasn’t a single guy on the square other than him who grant would of let smack him in the face like that (although let’s face it dot could probably hit harder)

Phil hit him three times and got away with it, although Grant didn't hit him back the third time because he knew how much physical pain Phil was already in. He did raise his fist right after Phil hit him.

@iluvlafferty2 жыл бұрын
Lol as if Sharon needed to sleep with Grant's brother in order to feel better about herself. How on earth does cheating resolve marital issues? She knew that sleeping with Phil was immoral and going to blow up in her face eventually. Then she actually had the nerve to think Grant would just get over it.
