Probably the most based message to young men . It seems that a lot of men now are valid by only money,women,house, . I think it is important to focus on yourself (not saying just think your center of the universe) to be successful you have to focus on your goals and yourself
@haze448 ай бұрын
it is really important to focus on yourself
@saimonasG8 ай бұрын
Yeh but that's vague, as people use money, women and houses as a metric to measure their progress. Focusing on yourself is becoming the best version of yourself which as a result you get the outcomes of money, women and houses. That's how I see it at least
@bobdole72928 ай бұрын
Focus on yourself 10000000% but I always do think it’s a little weird when that message is pounded home so severely. We are the most social species on the planet. It’s wired into our dna. And as men, we have it even more so than women because our whole “purpose” is to provide and protect- we are wired not only to be extremely social but to make it our mission to have others connected to us for their survival as well. The idea we can extricate ourselves from that is silly. It is entirely possible to not be happy as a male unless you have other people to provide for. Like. Do you think the males going out and hunting 20,000 years ago were primarily motivated by their desire to feed the,selves, or their desire to be the hero and feed their spouse and the village
@someone-mm5jz8 ай бұрын
@@bobdole7292yeah i agree we are social creatures after all. But the problem I think is that a lot of men focus so heavily on these things they forget about themselves which leads to them not being competent enough to get those things. View it like how some who tries way too hard to be funny always comes off as unfunny
@Sebmonella8 ай бұрын
How I see it is that someone should work on themselves first and always be their best version of themselves. We can enjoy the materialistic things in life but shouldn’t let it blind us from the true beauty of life. This is pretty much what you said tho but I’m just trying to say I agree

Two movies deliver the same message to men, and while one attempts to relate to their struggles and show them the result of giving into those thoughts and insecurites, the other simply berates them for wanting a girlfriend and gives a half assed message at the end to mask how bitter and hateful it is. Men and women both struggle and have issues in life. The way male characters are potrayed in barbie is afwul. They are literally all walking sterotypes that all men are douchebags. Comapred to marla in this movie who is shown to have plenty of struggles yet doesn't come off as some incompetent moron who can't think without the help of our protagonist. TLDR: Barbie bad Fight Club good
@ether42117 ай бұрын
OR both films show how consumerism pushes impossible standards onto both women and men to make both miserable. The Kens and Men of Fight Club are fed the idea that they must compete to have the best house, the best job and 'win' women to be a 'true man'. But in their embracing of hypermasculinity's ideals of 'traditional manhood' they harm themselves, other men, their relationships with others and end up becoming brainwashed into forming terrorists cells the end of the film. Ken follows the Narrators arc in dressing the same as Tyler, fighting with the other Kens and treating women badly - which results in him feeling even more threatened by other men, and rejected by women (noting that the Narrator in Fight Club is rejected by Marla only to kidnap her "for her own safety" and forces her to watch him shoot himself - THIS IS NOT OK!!!). In contrast Ken is also shown to be right when he calls out Barbie's ignoring of his feelings/needs and Barbie shows women can be cruel/mean to men. Barbie has to explain to Ken the same thing Tyler does - that Ken is not defined by his stuff, house, job or relationship with Barbie - she goes further to explain that self-worth must come from within not some 'guru' with fancy slogans and easy answers. Ken learns to see the other Kens as his brothers - not competition and that it's okay for men to cry and have feelings - the same thing the Narrator struggled with at the start of the film. Unlike the Narrator Ken finds peace with himself and others and he no longer feels bound to the idea sold to him of what a man is - he is simply Kenough. The film never makes Ken out to be a bad guy, his story is the same as many young men who struggle to understand that feminism is not about hating men, it's about men having the right to wear pink, cry or be kind to one another - without fear that doing so is somehow 'wrong'. In trying to make Barbie anti-men you miss the message of the entire film - that both Barbie and Ken go though the same struggles and have to learn how to accept themselves for who they are - not the male/female stereotypes sold to them by Mattel. Barbie never says it's wrong for Ken to want a girlfriend - but that it's unhealthy to hinge your entire self-worth on the love of someone who doesn't love you back.

Crazy because fight club is supposed to be a satire on the belief of hyper masculinity being a necessity or a base for male desires, it was written by a gay man who was making fun of people like you, if you read the graphic novel series and or the actual book you would see just how satirical and unserious the author actually treats these topics you're not supposed to relate to Tyler Durden you are supposed to see a schizophrenic man who has lost touch with reality and is living in a fantasy during the graphic novels especially, the author literally just throws the characters into random events blurring the line between reality and pure fantasy none of it is supposed to be taken seriously, you are riding so hard for a movie and story that is making fun of you, cry more
