He’s absolutely right. Going back to the early 80s, rap was extremely competitive. You had to be original. If you sounded like someone else (even in the slightest way! If you said a word or even used the same word as another rapper) you would get dissed and not even get respect from fans. Fans were knowledgeable back in the 80s and 90s. Basically what we’re saying is rappers were ALWAYS ALWAYS ALWAYS subliminally dissing each other. It was just par for the course. If that’s the right saying lmao

SO cool that Cease mentioned "2nd Round K.O." (and im not picking sides - but i will say that even before that diss came out when i was just a kid in the 90s i didnt like LL Cool J's fake ass). But thats beyond the point.... The song remains to this day one of the hardest diss tracks ever! And Canibus has (unfortunately) NEVER got the credit he deserved. There was NOBODY flowing with that kind of PASSION and raw, gritty, super intelligent type of content and talent back then. And its a damn shame because ANY true hip-hop-head KNOWS the caliber of his witty lyricism, metaphors/word play and endurance WE ALL expected Canibus to blow up. And no cap, im one of the few hip hop heads [THAT I KNOW OF] that actually liked most of the songs on his debut album "Can-I-Bus".....but that album was doomed from the start and idk the whole story but WHY Canibus would let fucking Wyclef take the reigns and produce the album and beats and shit is beyond me. Because thats where the criticism comes into the picture. Wyclef came from The Fugees, whereas Canibus was a young, hungry, hardcore rapper....and yes i mean HARDCORE cause he was ripping mfs apart with that shit he was spittin and was way ahead of his time. Wyclef had NO BUSINESS making that record for Canibus......that is why it flopped and was considered wack - the beats and production was subpar, even by 1998 standards. I mean K.O. was a major diss but only a minor hit and there were no other "hits" on that record. So between a wack producer and Canibus going at LL's fucking neck with that song, I think he was doomed to remain a relatively unknown rapper (at least to the mainstream rap community) I am glad he didnt let that experience stop him though. He kept making music and put out SOOOOO many songs and did it in a lot of various styles etc. Unfortunately most people either just know about him from the beef with LL Cool J or the "rap battle" that he did versus Dizaster a few years back......which (no pun intended) was a TOTAL FUCKING DIZASTER. But still, I think true unfettered hip-hop history will kook favorably upon The Canibus Man aka Canibus aka Can-I-Bus! and if it doesn't, we can all just blame Nas. afterall, thes the one that started that trend that became almost a standard in hop hop (at least for a few decades) where a rapper will team up with ONE producer to handle most of the work and beats and shit instead of what would (and i think SHOULD) BE THE NORM - let various djs/producers/engineers etc work on your album. It used to be that only rock bands would use the same producer on their albums/EPS. And as much as I fucking LOVE Nas - he did put out some of the wackest ever for an artist signed to major labels as a non independent famous rapper with lots of money to fund his albums. Again, even all the shit he put out that was considered straight filler material with wack beats and/or production etc - i STILL like a lot of those "wack" songs that he wrote. i just think they could have been a lot better with better beat selections and more talented production behind about half of his catalog. Rant over. just a little lesson on some shit that I find interesting. -Tommy Upstate, South Carolina #803 💯💯💯

You have to remember that cease is on big team and wouldn’t want big to look bad now that he’s not here, Everytime they asked him about a diss song he always says biggie never dissed pac which we know is a lie lol and he also says songs were created before need started but we all know you shouldn’t put certain songs out there even if they sound like they dissing someone so we know what big was doing. Big also said pac said some shyt he shouldn’t have said which means he was in talks with the Haitian jack and jimmy and them cause only they knew that no one else did and if pac is your man why say he said something he shouldn’t have? Big tried to play both sides and it cost him his life rip pac the fkn goat and rip big and rip stretch(another nigga I think who knew more than what he told but that’s a Story for anther day) lol

Exactly it's been soo long he should just say the truth and get on with it. Biggie freestyled long kiss goodnight in LA on the radio that pretty signed his death warrant. And not only that they said they wanted to squash the beef but yet biggie still was throwing shots and a dead man that ppl loved. Cease should just admit to it and move on everyone already knows the deal.

absolute garbage. In contrast, Long Kiss is a lyrical masterpiece. It's less a diss , more a lament. Lil Cease would probably have to google 'lament definition'. RIP Biggie. The greatest of all time.

That was about Pac," Lil' Cease said. "[Biggie] had some shit at the beginning of that, though. Nobody heard it, on the real. We had to change it. It was a little too much. I can't remember what Big said about him, but it was terrible. It couldn't make it. He didn't want to do it.
