Lil Kim is a Fashion Icon™

This video is about how the CFDA needs to stop playing around and give my girl the fashion icon award.
This is my longest video to date so hooray for that! I just really wanted to talk about the legacy that Lil Kim left and why I think that she is a Fashion Icon™. I think that a lot of people tend to forget or downplay the influence she had on fashion in the 90s/early 2000s. Even 20 years later people are still taking inspiration from her style and I'd like to highlight black women and talk about the accomplishments in the field. In the video I do mention Misa Hylton, Dionne Alexander, and Nija Battle as three amazing black women that helped Kim and the fashion industry become what it is.

Kim was the first rap female doing runway shows! She introduced the 90s fans and people to Chanel, Versace, Fendi, and Louis Vuitton through her songs and attire. Kim came in the rap game with style. She was walking in Karl Kani, Iceberg, Baby Phat and etc. She was everyone's mused Alexander McQueen- rip was in awe of Kim, Marc Jacobs- loved and idolized Kim, Donatella made clothes for Kim, Georgio Armani- having dinners and bespoke garments made for Kim. It's not just the wigs, Kim had style... she was the first rocking a Burkin in 2000 in many colors to her court cases. She was doing monogram before monogram was hot. She is from an era in New York where, you had style and was known for it. Even before she hit the music scene- she was rocking these labels way before. That's the difference between Kim and the new girls. She introduced the music culture and world to how she was unapologetic to taking risk with fashion, music, and etc. Kim was actually styled by her friend first then, Misa came in and she worked on a few pieces with Kim. Dionne is credited to dyeing Kim's hair- she was part of Kim styling team and many others. She really exploded into fashion in 1999 and 2000s. I hate when people say the 90s, she blew up worldwide in 99 and 2000s. She ushered in her Blueprint- she is the reason why people steadily stay in her closet stealing or being inspired by her. Love or hate, Lil Kim is that blueprint. She really did everything. Nice work goodtwoshoes! CFDA is long overdue. Kim is the reason why Pharrell, Kanye and etc have access to the fashionworld. She did that effortlessly.... they were not fashion, before getting in the game. Kim was.........
