Literally filmed this 2 separate times and this was the end result so here we are. Are there people out there that feel like I do about the current state of fashion? It just feels so repetitive but also fashion is inherently repetitive so idk what I expect I guess. I just want the girls to do better.
Insert that "IT'S MY OPINION" meme. abeg pls don't get on my ass over this it's just clothes

It's making me glad that I left social media as a creative. I love fashion and there's a sense of joy felt towards clothes. But well made garments are hardly appreciated from this "omg need! And then dump" cycle. I really wonder how future generations experience these fashion cycles and if there will be counter cultures of rejection

I gave up being “trendy “ and keeping up with it , it changes every month these days , and it’s exhausting and useless, waste of money , my new mindset it’s literally “if you look good in it you look good in it “

These micro trends and quickly changing overall trends have made it hard to shop. I typically save up to go shopping around once every season and get some updated pieces in my wardrobe but by the time I see something I actually really like that I see myself wearing for a long while bc it’s my personal style and liking , trend or not. The style and trend is already passed when it used to be everywhere and I struggle to find and buy those options again. Which sucks bc I could of seen myself making it work in my style for a long while bc I loved it that much. I like longevity for my closet. I have some items from the 2000s and early 2010s still that still look nice now and I still get compliments on.

how it feels with knitted vests that i wear so much. it was great seeing them in more designs and being in more stores unlike before but they'll probs go back to being an item that is only found in thrift stores or wait until winter again

I love the editing and yes I absolutely agree there needs to be a "fashion revolution" of some sort. So much "aesthetic" and "homages" and not enough of originality. Also don't get me started on Diet Prada, I don't think they're even a fashion page anymore lol 😂😂

trends are going by too fast, the jump from the early 2000s to late 2000s aesthetic was too fast. the corset trend lasted like 3 weeks. it’s out of control

This is so true! There's nothing wrong with referencing or taking inspo from the past but honestly it getting tiring if we keep seeing this happening very often. I believed that the reason why we lately keep seeing stuffs referencing from the past like the whole Y2k comeback is because of the pandemic made us dreamed of a simpler and nostalgic time. I Also want to say that micro trends does overconsumption and is contributing to the already massive waste production of the fashion industry. Love your vids btw keep it up ♡

we might be in a diy renaissance and fast fashion era at the same time lol. but honestly, the 2000s have been the vintage/archive years for a while now. in the mid 00s we had the hipsters and the early 00s were heavily influenced by prior decades as well. so while microtrends are cycling in and out faster, overall trends seem to be right on the mark

The only trend I see around me is that all the girls have stopped with skinny jeans, and started wearing puddle jeans. Up untill fall they were also wearing bright pastel colors, which has been a trend for a few years now. The trend cycle is still normal irl. I got my fashion inspo from youtube since before the pandemic, so it's not that I'm saying don't look to social media for fashion advice, but what I'm saying is take a look at the very specific corner of tiktok or instagram you are in. Don't you think it's weird that you are more bored than when every fashon advice video literally went 'get black jeans and a white t-shirt'. When fashion turned funky again, I was excited, it had intrigue to me. There were so much possibilities. Now everyone keeps referencing how fast they got sick of the hos dress everywhere online. We can do so much better than this? There so much new potential for aesthetics and online culture. Tiktok is just dissapointing.

I love this, I do think that with the microtrends and a focus on what's in and out for fashion can make it feel overwhelming and stale really quick. Kinda reminds me of the beauty bubble that burst a couple years ago. The upside to it bursting is the smaller actually creative innovators are still in the scene and showcasing their own style/looks. I'm looking forward to people just enjoying their own personal taste without a care for aesethics or being on trend.

One plus I see to micro trends is that there seems to be less of a sense of what is “in fashion” because there’s just too much to keep track of and that might lead to more self based expression and self driven fashion. However, I think the micro trend market will die out eventually-it’s annoying to try to keep up with everything and I think the culture of fashion will start to reflect that. I hope :/

This is why I love my 1940s/WWII style. Everything I buy is usually 60-80+ years old. Occasionally I buy something from the 80s that is a good "faux 40s" piece. These items are already technically obsolete. They will NEVER go out of style for me because they were never IN style, I'm just in my own lane doing my own thing entirely. Not to mention I buy zero fast fashion, stuff from back then was made with better materials, built to last, etc, etc. I honestly so recommend that young people disengage from the churn of current fashion and just look at what they TRULY like from the past century or so and zero in on their own personal style regardless of what is currently popular. Life is SO much simpler when you say "fuck the noise" and wear what you want regardless of trendiness.

This increase in the speed of trends is most likely caused by the way our culture has slowly but surely lost an idea of “new” of a new future, specifically because of the stranglehold capitalism still has on the entire world. Thus instead of forging new futures, the culture focuses on past dreams of the future, this phenomenon is called “hauntology” and was created by philosopher Mark Fisher. I actually think this increasingly fast trend cycle is a necessary evil for us to accelerate through this cycle of stagnation and retro futuristic nostalgia, it might allow us to break out of this cycle entirely. Of course, it is extremely uncomfortable to live within a cycle that continuously moves faster and faster but, I think that uncomfortability is what is going to inspire artists, philosophers, and your average person to begin to push to break out of the cycle, and move the culture in a truly new direction. Of course, with the continued hyper-alienation under capitalism and the existence of capitalist realism (essentially art that has self-awareness about the evils of capitalism but poses no solution to the existing problems, comfortably critiquing capitalism from within the womb of capitalism) this is not going to be an easy task at all but, I think if we can make more people aware of the cyclical nature of culture and show them how we’ve lost our dreams for tomorrow, we can potentially inspire a renaissance of culture.

We are definately about to change the way we create specially during the next decade, the time we will see results of this historical point we are living in, we cant see it clear cause we are going through, inmersed in it, and maybe being boring is the trend of this times! Like a new classic stuff that feels like .. sober, even though there are colours on it.
