Im Christian, and I was pretty offended by what Lil Nas X was doing. However I did choose to ignore it. I don’t really believe in the idea of bashing others or judging others. Grown-up around them and shared my thoughts with them on this situation. I can understand the anger and reaction of religious folk about this video. I can fully see their side. My main issue with it is the hypocritical nature that a lot of these reactions had. The same people that are calling out Lil Nas X about disrespecting “their religion” will be the same ones committing more sin than said person parodying their religion. Majority of the anger, specifically from black folk, stem from their own bias of blavk homosexuality (which is nuanced within itself) and so they use that as an excuse to berate Nas X for something that hundreds, LITERALLY HUNDREDS of other artists, actors, celebs, political figures do the same thing on a near daily basis.

As a Christian, I’m chill with what he did. From what I’ve seen all he did is dress up as Jesus and he’s definitely not the first person to ever do that, whether it’s just a costume someone wore or if there’s a Christian movie where an actor plays him, people have acted as Jesus before it’s not really anything new.

I'm a very non religious person. I feel like Christianity is the most aggressively forced religion that exists. It feels like Christianity is so heavily pushed on to us that it then comes off as disrespectful to our choice to live life the way we choose. Non-believers get talked down upon, disowned, harassed, etc, by Christians. And when something does pop up that hurts them, its a huge problem. I don't know. It just seems a little unfair.
