Well they liked to show decolletage during the Renaissance, so it wouldn't be inaccurate if Mary's neckline was lower. Bella gerant alii, tu felix Austria nube - ‘Let others wage war: thou, happy Austria, marry’. This famous saying is invariably quoted when the rise of the Habsburgs is put down to the success of their dynastic marriage policy, in which young archdukes and archduchesses were frequently married off as children to members of other dynasties, or indeed to relatives of their own. Emperor Maximilian I is credited with the greatest success in the implementation of this policy - through his own marriage and those of his son Philip the Fair and his grandson Ferdinand, the dynasty gained Burgundy, Spain, Bohemia, and Hungary. However, the famous saying ignores the many strokes of luck that contributed to the rise of the Habsburgs - and also the fact that their gains were by no means always achieved without loss of blood. Wars were an equally important element of Habsburg policy as marriages.

Maximiliano y María son primos hermanos? hijos de Carlos V y Fernando respectivamente ? O son otros personajes que nada tienen que ver con esa historia ?
@Lily1127channel3 жыл бұрын
No. Tú hablas sobre el emperador Maximiliano II y su esposa María de Austria. Esos son otros personajes en el video: el emperador Maximiliano I y la duquesa María I de Borgoña, abuelos de Carlos V y Fernando I.

Loved the show but I never got why they were speaking different languages at the same time without sharing a language when together.
@JadedKate3 жыл бұрын
they spoke Latin together, which both understood. also, french was "lingua franca" which was spoken in all the courts at the time, so Max understood her. He got better in french since he needed to speak to her and his subjects, seeing as he was their new ruler.

@Lily1127channel3 жыл бұрын
No, it's just both of them are called Maximilian, but they lived 400 years apart. The man in the video is Maximilian I, Holy Roman Emperor (1459-1519). Emperor Maximilian of Mexico (1832-1867) was the brother of Emperor Franz Joseph of Austria.
