Words couldn’t comprehend how I felt when I learned my direct ancestral link to this. Many grandfathers ago. He served as a courtier in the court of King Juan II of Aragon in the year 1458. I’m proud of my roots.

Great moment in history, at least for me and the rest of my lineage. Just found out that Maria Luisa de Estrada the mistress of King Ferdinand was my 17th Grandmother. 🤯 and to see a re-inaction of that moment is incredible.

Why would you not want a child? 😢 script written by a person without love and bitter.
@Lily1127channel20 сағат бұрын
No, there are simply people, there always have been, who just don't want to have children 🤷♀ It is a well known fact from history. We know that Isabella didn't particularly care for her children, she feared being pregnant and giving birth (which could easily mean death for women in that era), she didn't love her husband, she was instead in love with his sister, and she was prone to depression. With all these historical facts, you don't have to be either without love or bitter to write Isabella like this.

They should call it Becoming Mary Tudor. Because the actress nailed every scene and her role . And she is the the next queen after Edwards death.

Mary was resilient, indomitable, and intelligent. She needed to be she was always a hairs breath from execution under her father, then her brother. She drew enormous amounts of strength from her Catholic faith. Regrettably, her religion made her manical, brittle, and murderous

How did Alfonso become heir? I thought Henry’s daughter was or did she get declared illegitimate?
@rose080891Күн бұрын
The nobles turn on Henry and declare his daughter illegitimate. Alfonso was a boy in their power so they supported him in a war for the throne. Henry's queen didn't help the situation by becoming pregnant and giving birth twice to illegitimate children.

Poor parents realizing their child is a lost cause. Though they don't know about genetics, Juana's problems came from Isabella's mother. I wonder if it made her feel guilty. She's not crazy but seriously unhinged and incapable of controlling her emotions.

She was a terrible mother sorry not sorry
@Lily1127channel3 күн бұрын
Well, depends on what your comparison is. Comparing with modern 21st century mothers, she was certainly not a good mother. Comparing with 18th century mothers in her days, she was a quite caring mother. But I am open to any arguments on why other 18th century mothers were better than her.
@calliefinck62753 күн бұрын
Her daughter Marie Antoinette was definitely a better mother than her. She spent zero time with her kids and showed no remorse that none of her daughters suffered in their marriages and bugged them to do their duties to her. Plus Catherine the great was a shit mother that’s for sure
@Lily1127channel2 күн бұрын
Zero time with her kids? She famously had a very strict daily schedule and spent several hours in the nursery each day with her kids according to that schedule. She spent so much time with her kids that was quite unheard of for a royal mother back then, let alone for a monarch. It was even recorded that people found her odd for this. Also when any of her kids got sick, she personally cared for them, even endangering her own life. When she nursed her daughter and daughter in law during the smallpox epidemic, the doctors tried to get her out of the room saying that the ruler of the empire should not endanger her own life in such a way, but she didn't listen, got smallpox, and almost died of it herself. She never fully recovered and lived with severe health issues afterwards as the result of that smallpox. Well, Marie Antoinette was certainly a good mother, but we must note that she died before her kids got to adulthood, so I don't think we can make a comparison there truly. Most things that Maria T is reproached for as a mother happened with her adult children. We don't know how Marie Antoinette would gave gotten along with her adult children. We can only compare Marie A's motherhood with Maria T's motherhood till the point when her kids were as young as Marie A's kids were at her death. And up until that point there is not much Maria T could be faulted with. Also, when making that comparison we must also take into account that having 4 children is not nearly the same as having 16. Of course when you are one child of 16 you will obviously get less personal attention from your parents than when you are a child of 4 children. Not to mention that in that comparison one mother is a consort with much less duties and tasks, while the other is a ruler of an empire who had so much to do she got up at 5am each day of her life so that she could catch up with her always endless to do list. Yes she expected her kids to do their duties, which is not always a bad thing. Nowadays we see that there are several parents who expect nothing from their kids and give them no duties and spoil them, and the kids end up as adult children who live in the mama hotel age 30+. Not having high expectations from your kids and not giving their duties is not necessarily a better parenting.

Fair enough. But for example she wanted her kids to grovel even if it humiliated them. Like she did with Antonia and that disgusting whore du Barry

Well, don't have high hopes ☹ I had to reupload just this video about 5 times because KZbin always deleted it due to copyright issues with the Marie Antoinettte tv series. I had to cut and edit those few short Marie Antoinette scenes again and again. Any scene longer than 20-25 seconds was already a problem. So I really don't think normal scenes from Marie Antoinette can be uploaded. Nothing longer than 20 sec fragments 🫤

Ugh Spanish Princess was rough, by the end of the series I wanted to boot her out of England myself. She never shut up ever, constantly interrupted whoever she shared a scene with and most of the time she was just talking out of her ass. I lost count with the amount of times she proclaimed “I will be the Queen of England” and then “I am the Queen of England” in season 2. It was also ridiculous that they depicted her (and Henry) as being apathetic toward Mary. Though they got her hair right 🤷♂️

Too bad that there won't be a second season of this I heard. 😢 I wanted to see when they tried to make lady jane gray queen, the rise of mary I and her disastrous marriage to philip ii of spain and then elizabeth truly becoming elizabeth as queen elizabeth i. Too bad they canceled this show. My heart is broken 💔 😢 I wanted to see all of this play out on TV 📺 😢

The real Isabel was ten years old when this happened, I think it was funny that a twenty-six year old actress played her in this scene. But other than that, the scene is absolutely magnificent. Especially Isabel's magnificent fortitude, her extraordinary maturity in facing this uncertain situation and giving strength to her mother and Alfonso are incredible. Even in a relatively insignificant scene in the series' plot, Isabel's character is summarized. These successful details can explain why the series is still very popular even after ten years.
