I love her story and spirit... no religion or organization or human should do that to another person...

I swear I'd heard your voice before and I realized I'd listened to your Ted Talk (more than once). I find cult dynamics so interesting (I'm a psychology minor) and your videos gave great insight. Also, I love your accent!

Agreed, but it was a bit more than that for her. She had to choose leaving everything she had ever known lol. That's a bloody hard decision!

I have been playing with that idea! We'll see how this series goes and then maybe do a longer form podcast as well. This 10 min episode was made from a 50 minute interview haha, so plenty of extra content!!

When I hear Lilia’s story it’s like what I had when my wife and I first got custody of my sister in law. My wife’s family are conservative orthodox Jewish, so she had a very sheltered upbringing, nowadays she’s a normal and very amazing kid.

Religion is man-made. Jesus came into the world not to condemn but to save so that we would be set free from the law. Anything that goes against Jesus‘s words is a man-made religion or cult. Her grandfather took everything out of context. What they did to the children there was taking the freedom away that Jesus was giving. Simply the good news is the gospel of Jesus Christ. Jesus set the the example to love one another as he loved us for he gave his life so that we would have everlasting life. I was raised in a cult as well. It screws with your head. The one difference is my parents gave me the gift to discover real truths. Jesus says to keep knocking and he will answer keep searching and he will be with us all the days of our lives. One day we will see him face to face at our appointed time. After a serious car accident that I was in I experienced a brief encounter with Jesus and heaven. He is as real as the face you look at in the mirror each day. I saw the series of Gloryville and your Ted Talk presentation. Great presentation. I am glad that you are set free from your grandfather’s hands. He was clearly deceived. We are part of what Paul calls in first Corinthians 3:... GOD’s building... as we study there are countless millions that are so hung up on tradition and they base their very eternal destination on some of these traditions. Tradition is something that has been passed down from generation to generation and many never bother to check the scripture to see if these traditions are really true for the body of Christ believer.
