No hurt feelings here , it's refreshing to see an honest and fair reaction . You should listen to the recently released live version from last October . They had a 2nd guitar, the keyboard was toned down a little and Melody did the vocals differently . She is evolving and growing . It may be more to your liking , or not . Honesty rocks !

I do like their live version as well featuring "Aiden Fisher" from this past October. That's some good advice for her to consider. I'm glad you recognize that she can sing clean when ever she wants. I do want to say this was done over a year ago and you did give some really sound advice as she is growing and learning more that really may help her down the line. Glad you did recognize all the clean spots she did sing and liked those parts really appreciate that. I do appreciate your honesty very refreshing. Constructive criticism can be a really good thing.

Your correct! If you want recognition from the masses, your going to held to the same standards! I really enjoy LILIAC but I know what you mean about the gravely gutteral sounds! Not really needed, she is a great singer without it all the time in this particular song! She also did this with a song she performed with SABBATH NIGHTS, A Sabbath tune! Again, it wasn't needed, and took away from her ability to sign clean! I'm still a huge fan of LILIAC ! They have tremendous potential !

I’ve noticed that a lot of newer metal recordings lack enough bottom end on the guitars. And that’s what I noticed in this song. That being said, that was also the case in the eighties and nineties. Metallica and Prong are a couple of exceptions to that, but only on certain albums. I listened to some Pantera the other day and noticed that, it needs more bottom end. But again, I don’t mean EVERY album, just certain ones. I wish bands that downtuned to get heavier would have added more bass to their tone instantly of only detuning. Depending on how the tone is utilized, sometimes down tuning makes it sound more hollow, rather than heavier. This applies to doom metal, as well as nu metal, but doom metal seems more inclined to add more low end in addition to down tuning.

I of course am highly biased when it comes to my favourite bands and singers after listening to music seriously for over 65yrs I think I'm qualified to know what I like . One thing I don't like are carbon copy covers , if I wanted a carbon copy of Metallicas song then I'd simply listen to Mettalica . Liliac never play their tribute covers exactly as original that's why I love their versions ,much more interesting . Dude, big fan of Liliac. No apologies needed. Not with me anyway. People all have different tastes and this is the first time I've seen someone comment on Melody's vocal in that way. Usually the uncertainty is over whether the keys add anything or not. They do.. makes it sound like a romanian arrangement. Was never a fan of Metallica but I love their effort on this. I like the fact they put their spin on it and yet stayed true to the original in the doing. I like Melody's vocal on this. I'm not a vocal coach and I'm not hearing anything she's doing wrong. There are sounds, however, that get on my last nerve. I get that. And your summation is correct. The sound of her vocals is something of a hook into the song. And if you think about what the song itself is about.. not a pretty subject. The vocal to me underscores that point. It's a guttural thing and it's got a guttural sound. So I think your description fits that exactly. If Melody made that choice for that reason, I'll die a happy man (not really), us artists are picky when it comes to how we choose to put a point across so who knows. But this band is not one to make choices with a professional producer's help with out studied thought. Now, you don't apologize for your ratings. You defend them. And you do it well. It's what I like about you. Don't take crap, give an honest critique and let the snowflakes be snowflakes. Someone having a different opinion isn't the end of the world, it's the beginning of more music, more art, more design.. more. This is why I go as far as to say that music performed and put in the wild that sucks.. is a good example of what not to do, a great example of what that artist needs to work on, and possibly the road to a better artist and at least allows one to appreciate the good stuff. If you haven't seen really bad work, you may not appreciate how much work really goes into the really amazing stuff. Freddie Mercury was a genius, yes. Doesn't mean it came easy. It was really hard work translating what was in his head into the real world. The making of the song bohemian rhapsody shows the lengths they went to in getting that sound they wanted. But that was the studio cut. Mercury was a great vocalist; but, his live performances rarely came up to the level of his studio work. Still good; but, damn tough to replicate live. Marc Martel in the modern day is kindof a Unicorn in that regard in that he can duplicate Mercury's studio sound on a live stage. Amazingly talented, and also very well trained, hard working and it shows. At any rate, thanks for the review. Liliac has since recorded a live version of this with Aiden Fisher playing the second guitar position with the keys included as well. And it's frakkin amazing to listen to. Cheers.

Well, I misinterpreted the thumbnail. 😆Personally, I think I'd score the cover in the low 8s. To play this song well is great, but to me this didn't go much beyond that level. Agreed on the vocals, though; it sounded like way too much inflection being used, so it came off as overly dramatic. From what I remember, Liliac have done multiple Dio covers, so I wonder if Melody at times is trying to emulate Dio but gets carried away.

Yeah the vocals on this to me are overkill way overproduced however everything that goes on an album you gotta look at the producer also I think that’s part of the problem on this particular sound they needed to tone it back I love I guitar work here for sure. However I do like the live version better they did I think it MadLife studios her vocals sounded much better she did it a little bit different live and did not have the overproduction she does not need all of that she’s very good but I did not really like the way the vocals were done on this even though I’m a big Liliac fan I was not a fan of the vocals for sure on this.
