Ich habe gelesen, Lilian wollte in ihren Filmen nie ein Happy_End mit Ruehmann' weil sie ihn zu klein und nicht attraktiv fand. Ich weiß nicht, ob das so stimmt. Wie auch immer. Sie verließ Deutschland früh wegen der Nazis. Ob Ruehmann' seine 1. Frau gerettet oder verraten hat, wird man wohl nie wissen.

She didn't leave it because of the Nazis, she left it because of the allies increasing hostility against Germany and their looming attacks and the war that was about the break out. During the Nazi era in the 30's before the war Germany had an immense recovery and new life, compared to the horrible 20's when Germans were subjected to all kinds of crimes and misery by the allies, and were being gunned down in the Streets by communist terrorists. She loved Germany and made it her new home, she found a lot of success in Germany because people loved her too. Same with other actresses and singers from other countries like Swedish Zarah Leander

Harvey finally left Germany in 1939 and emigrated to Juan-les-Pins. She made her last film there in 1940, Miquette, and after the occupation of southern France, she returned to Hollywood in 1942.
