So contracts offer the base DLC guns on rotation and in the regular daily orders theres one weapon variant available. Its a pretty fair system if you ask me. The contracts and orders are pretty quick and fair for weapons and variants. I got a variant for the m267 and I didn't have to unlock the base gun which is also cool.

I think there are some variants that are locked behind community events like the riverter II for the grease gun... Unfortunately there is no way to get those guns if you didn't play the game at the time the event was live.

But no sign of anything further. I think if you're going to get all that unlocked from the start they should give you the guns too lol. Ah well.

Sadly, the Trench Knife contract is in fact broken. I have done it twice, in different ways, but sadly nothing came of it. Tried sending an Activision support ticket because that's the only one I need besides the Ice Pick, Push Dagger and Combat Knife, which also don't seem to appear in contracts - maybe the Trench Knife contract needs to be completed before they appear. Either way, don't bother spending your armoury credits on the Trench Knife contract if anyone is planning on doing so.
