It is an alternative text - a kind of complaint. I remember it was first sung in Rome/Vatican at Eastern in front of Pope Joh. Paulus II. I found it very couragious & was very impressed. It would be a big, big shame if anyone would be forbidden to sing "non-jewish" lyrics. The word "allow" sound like a favor - it must be an obvious thing.
