Lillie is one of my favorite riders and role models. being a junior rider myself she has inspired me so much and has really driven me in my riding. She is so accurate in everything she is saying in this interview especially about knowing the business side of the sport. She is so lucky to have such a well grounded family and training in her career. LILLIE KEENAN IS MY HERO:) she so well deserved this award. If I were to choose who got the award I would choose no one other than the great Lillie Keenan

It’s 90 percent easier when you have top notch, made, show horses to compete on. I doubt very much she would have the same success on regular $20 to 40,000 dollar horses that most people compete on. Instead she wins because her horses are expensive, made horses. Most riders would have the same success if they rode the horses her parents can afford to purchase. This woman truthfully hasn’t had many sacrifices in life, in fact she even has her own private plane. She seems to think quite highly of herself but doesn’t take into consideration the caliber of horses she is fortunate enough to ride.

Money plays a huge factor in this for sure. She very may well be talented, but it was money that bought the best trainers, best horses, paid for all the shows etc....if money wasn’t a factor there would be no doubt who really is the best in the sport, because they would all be starting on the same mark. I did NOT have the money (neither did my parents), thus a riding career was extremely difficult for me. I WONDER IF LILLIE HAS EVER BEEN A WORKING STUDENT???
