KZbin likes to play games. It does not tell me why a video gets banned, flagged, and silenced so I just have to guess what was the “inappropriate” word(s) said in the videos. I wish they would just tell me the “rules” so I could follow. Anyway, I am guessing we aren’t allowed to say the words “eating di$order” in videos as when I type that phrase into the KZbin search bar no videos are shown, rather a phone number for help pops up. However it appears we are allowed to say “disordered eating” in videos based videos pulling up when I type those words into the KZbin search bar. All that to say, in this video at minute marker 16:16 you’ll notice a glitch when Dr. Berry says “eating di$order” as I chopped down the phrase to avoid this video from potentially being banned. Thank you for understanding and for all your support!❤️

55 year old male and started eating carnivore diet September, 2024 at 205 lbs and 5’10”, with hypertension and recurring debilitating knee swelling. Tried a strict carnivore diet, No carbs, no alcohol and I watched the weight fall off. Jan 1, 2025 I am 176 lbs and BP numbers are now testing in the normal range, knees have not swollen in weeks and my energy levels are through the roof. Eating carnivore diet is a lot cheaper than I first expected. There is much less food wasted, and the fridge is so much less cluttered meal preparation is much easier and I usually will have two different types of meat prepared. I am also careful to make sure that I have enough fats with my protein as that tends to keep me full and satisfied for hours. Most of the liquids consumed would be coffee with plenty of cream in the morning, water and tea through the afternoon and evening. I had been diagnosed with leaky gut nearly 20 years ago and did not know what to do with my diet to control the symptoms. Developed diverticulitis a few years later and had a 10 day stay in the hospital due to a severe bout of it. Eating carnivore has completely changed my digestive function for the better with regularity you could set your watch to. Gas, bloating and diarrhea are gone. I used to have to sleep on my left side only as if I turned on my right side I would experience heartburn and general discomfort in my stomach. Now I am able to sleep on both sides without any discomfort. Don’t know what I am going to do with all of the antacids in the cupboard, I used to consume a bottle every couple of weeks and could not sleep without them. Haven’t needed them since 2 weeks into carnivore. This way of eating may not be for everyone but I sure am seeing some great results.

Exactly, carnivore is amazing for people with gut problems and auto immune issues. Most people do not have those and will thrive on meat, poultry, fish, eggs, small amount of dairy and veggies and fruit tho. Too much fear mongering going on in the carnivore community. I have been eating 2-3 pounds of meat daily for 30 years now, meat is a super food but I always eat a little bit of fruit and veg, I tried carnivore and even went over a year on it and did not feel healthy at all until I readed back in the latter. Find what works for you people, carnivore, keto or low carb is the way tho....

I'm not having a go at either the USA or Australia, i love both countries, I am just highlighting how quickly things have escalated in such a short period.... the additives to our food that our governments allows is CRIMINAL. I love Dr. Chaffee too. I absolutely loved the fact that he makes the point that plants are toxins. I didn’t want to be a rabbit and he reinforced that notion. 😂 He is right about it though. I stopped eating vegetables all together. I grew my own vegetables for years. When I tried to eat tomatoes again every joint in my body ached. So I didn’t eat them for a while again. Tried them again and again I had aches all over. So I won’t touch them anymore. I will eat pickles occasionally, broccoli once in a blue moon but pretty much nothing but meat now. I feel much better than when I ate the standard diet. Love you Lillie, and Dr. Berry. Keep spreading the knowledge.

@@MultipolarBear485 I agree some people are nuts but from my own experience I currently need to be strict. I cut out processed food and all crap over 30 years ago. Ate that so called balanced way. Didn’t work for me. There are exceptions to everything. And I was pretty hard core on the no processed food and junk. Ask anyone who knows me or lives with me. Some of us have special issues that require more rigidity but I totally agree that being strict and rigid is surely not for everyone and completely unnecessary and potentially terrible for many people. Everyone has to find their own sweet spot. No one truly knows what someone else needs. People need to find their own way. I do think meat based is probably best for humans considering our digestive system design but we are clearly not carnivores when you compare our digestive system to that of a true carnivore. We are in between that and a pig which is a true omnivore. I agree the crazy radicals need to chill.😏

I did carnivore for a year, but on again and off again I would add in a vegetable and test it. Discovered I'm slightly allergic to nuts (never knew, because I was in such an inflamed state most of my life). Found out broccoli doesn't agree with me, but Cauliflower does. Lettuce is good, Kale makes my joints swell, onions are good, but pickles no. There were so many of my hallmark healthy foods that my body negatively responded to that it suddenly made sense why it was so hard for me to do eat "right" and exercise. Down 150 lbs so far since I got right with my nutrition. I'm about 80% carnivore and throughout the week, I'll have salads, cauliflower, berries, and potatoes.

Thank you for sharing your experiences with other foods. It’s always so interesting to read what works and doesn’t work for others. For me I’ve found onions make me stink (armpits, breath, gas). Peas seem to be fine. Too many sweet potatoes bring back my knee pain. Broccoli overall fine with a side of bloating. It’s interesting to experiment and become more in tune with what your body needs and how it reacts to food. Have a great 2025 years!

I trust Dr Berry and doing the elimination diet. Plants have pesticides and herbicides. Do carnivore first then introduce plants back in and see how you feel. @@danutaf-rs5se If the cow eats grass or grains or whatever, then it is in fact going through a filter before it gets to you. But if YOU eat the plant foods directly, it does not go through a filter when it gets to you. Granted, the best meat is meat you yourself raise and can control what they eat. But even walmart meat (blech) is at least a buffer between you and the pesticides. What is interesting is all these "plant based diet health problems" didn't seem to exist 100 plus years ago when people ate meat AND veggies. I added vegetables from my yard back in. The best vegetable was cabbage. In two days I could close my hands. I think that we are all different and should be mindful of what we choose.

Mix it in a big container in the proportions you want, and you'll have MONTHS of quality electrolyte mix, at better proportions than LMNT, for the price of about a week's worth of LMNT. Everyone is going to have different outcomes. My brother started carnivore and said I should try it in 40 days I lost 30 pounds but that was a extra benefit for me. I was told for years my LDL cholesterol way high and reading on statins and Rapatha was going to put me into diabetes. Now I have so much more energy and lately I have been on a cleaning and organizing frenzy. When I mentioned these effects to my brother he has the exact same effects. I sleep less. I have been retired for 15 years and kept getting up later everyday. Now I get up at 5:30 and go to bed around 10:00 to 11:00. I wake up on the run and I am constantly moving. And someday I eat once or maybe twice but I'm never hungry. I haven't drank cola or sweet drinks for years. The big change is no breads, sweet rolls, candies. And going through Thanksgiving and Christmas without a homemade sugar treat took will power. And surprisingly it is a cheap diet even eating ribeyes! Eggs are great to keep full for 6 to 8 hours. I haven't had any bad effects when my other choice was taking drugs for cholesterol and blood preasure and even my INR has been running 2.5 which is perfect for a person with a pacemaker. I do occasionally go out to eat and eat a regular meal but I always try to get the most meat and the least processed food.

Hi. Thoughts on eating: 1. Humans did not eat every day as hunting was not easy. 2. Humans did eat for the season: berries and/or citrus fruits (lemon, grapefruit?) what was available for season or geographical area. 3. Food was fresh if abundant within two days 4. Nothing was added to food. 5. When humans started cooking it was on an open fire 🔥 again we did not add seasoning or oils If we are to say we are eating from over 300 years ago, then maybe we need to review foods & just eat in season & or fresh fruit/vegetables known to grow in area. We need to have companies stop GMO’s, added chemicals, & mass production of produce.

You are imagining some fantasy tropical world that never existed. For example just try and spend a few weeks forraging in Australia bush. Honestly, that is a terrible analogy. Rust is oxidized metal, which means that oxygen molecules have pulled electrons away from the iron. That isn't what happens in the body at all. And you painting this mental picture where you literally have little shards of rust that is scraping the insides of your arteries and that is scary, but not at all accurate. Also, the mechanism how too much iron affects your body is not really known for each these points, so painting the picture like this is a little out of control in my opinion. Having elevated ferritin doesn't mean anything like that is happening at all. Elevated ferritin started popping up about 10 years ago in gym culture because all these people were suggesting everyone take an iron supplement, which they then did. That was a scourge of people like fitness influencers causing people to self diagnosis anemia. "Oh, your tired, your probably anemic". "Oh, you aren't making the gains you think you should be, you might be anemic so you should take an irons supplement". When really, the only people who might be low in iron are people who eat no iron containing foods at all, it's a higher rate in women due to the menstrual cycle, and if for some reason you lost a lot of blood due an accident you could be deficient as well. Women specific vitamins usually contain iron and men specific ones do not, due to the higher likelihood of a iron deficiency in women. There are ways you can deal with it. Eat less iron containing foods, you can give blood regularly which reduces your level of iron as well, things like that. Most people don't get high iron from eating red meat, but you can certainly stick to carnivore and eat less red meat. You can eat more fish and chicken, for example. But you know, that diet isn't going to be for everyone, there is no one diet that fits everyone. I feel like this channel has become like some others in that it confuses optimization for health. There is a market and situation for these types of discussions. Most people will benefit from a carnivor-ish diet because part of that is a massive reduction in hyper processed foods. It drives people towards cooking their own foods and taking responsibility for how they eat. But this also applies to vegan diets and calorie counting though. I think that a vegan diet runs the risk of far more deficiencies in vitamins and nutrients without special consideration. Calorie counting is just hard for some people because it doesn't take into account satiety, which over the long run matters a lot. Here, we have a situation where you are attacking the subject of high ferritin, which is worth it, but like I said, most people don't end up with high or low ferritin because of what they eat. The human body is very good at homeostasis in this situation. And high in this case really means outside the reference range, not high but within the reference range. Edit: All of that said, this is a great interview with Ken Berry, and I absolutely agree with what he says in general. And I very much still like this channel and Lillie, in general.

This weird navigation to relying on blood test markers instead of how you feel is odd. Unless a particular problem needs to be solved. But I feel like people jump the shark instead of going to the most obvious solutions e.g. Cramping is generally related to magnesium but people will start doing all sorts of weird things. Thankfully I'm too poor to rely on blood tests. I also realised after eating badly for a period that especially cholesterol tests aren't necessarily that meaningful. Pet peeve: people over do electrolytes then blame diet 🤦

People wouuld have hunted any animal; wild turkey, wild boar and other animals. I constantly try to add in small amounts of other non animal things but my body just doesnt like it. I have no goals to be carnovire or keto; I just want to feel great. But carnivore works best for me at this time. Been over 7 years. I personally think a meat centric diet would be best for most people; with some people needing to be more strict than others; but promoting insane rigidity as the rule fo everyone is just F'in crazy. I have tapped out of the carnivore community for the most part. I still like some stuff they say from time to time; and agree with much of what they say but it has gotton out of freaking conntrol with the rigidity and absolutes presented as it it applies to everyone. Knowing how good I feel on raw milk and how much it has changed my health and my life makes me know so many of these people are full of Sh75. I am not saying raw milk is good for everyone. Some dont have the adaptation to handle it; but I do. Not only do I handle it, my body LOVES it. It is the single most amazing dietary thing I have ever done.I am one of those people who has zero issues with raw milk. And it keeps me from undereating. I cant possibly eat the amount of meat my body needs so milk is my saving grace. It is all one big experiment. We need to remember that we all come to the table with different genetics, different adaptive abilities, different unique responses to certain things. There is no universal food rules for everyone. That shouuld be obvious.

They NEVER believe my age until I show them my ID. I don't go to doctors and I don't spend my time getting this test or that test. I pay attention to how I feel. When I eat something if I do not feel good afterwards I STOP EATING it. Food should NOT make us feel bad. We should feel nourished and energized not bloated, heavy or in ANY sort of pain. People need to stop listening to "ists" and start listening to their own body. Sadly we have been brainwashed and conditioned to listen to other people while we simultaneously tell our body to "STFU". You know when you feel good or not so why would you listen to ANYONE other than yourself about that? I also listen to my body and only eat when I am actually hungry. If I look at what I have available to eat and nothing jumps out at me with my body saying 'YES!!! Eat that!!!" Then I know I'm not actually hungry and likely just bored or stressed out. The biggest problem I have with both carnivore and vegan spaces is how dogmatic they can. And a bunch will absolutely tear you down like some modern day cult. The fact is if you eliminate most ULTRA processed food, exercise at least 3 to 4 times a week (I do 2 cardio / 2 resistance, sometimes 3/1) and do a 90/10 diet. Healthy 90% of the time (on whatever diet that works for you), but the 10% where you have to drink a couple of wines at a wedding or a cake at some 3 year old birthday, won't kill you. Heck It will work for the vast majority of people and far less strict. If you feel really bad while eating meat or vegetables, then do use Vegan/Carnivore as an elimination diet. Heck even extreme diets can't fix everything. My carnivore friend LOVES fish, but he can't because he gets random rashes. Yes fish allergy is a real thing lol.

The biggest problem is the cost. Meat just keeps getting more expensive. Add fat. A lot of carnivores are not getting enough fat. If you're a woman still menstruating, you will not have too much iron. A man may have this issue, but I've never heard of any of these problems in a carnivore, human or otherwise. This sounds more like concerns without a real problem. You could just switch to chicken or pork from time to time. Rotate if you're concerned. When they say usual, that doesn't mean anything since Americans often don't eat as much red meat compared to the past.

the problem with the ferritin numbers is that there is no research about ferritin in the presence of a keto/carnivore diet, that includes individuals of excellent health, while the reference range today is just measurements based on a standard American diet. I am doubtful that reference ranges today would have been applicable 1 million years ago when meat was the majority of food available to people.

All the diets out there won't work for everyone. You have to find what works best for you. Some people thrive on strict carnivore... Some require some additional carbs through fruit and/or veggies. I do like how some people on different sides of the fence will say, here is why they eat the way they eat BUT if someone else thrives eating whatever they are.. They will say to continue doing so. Its about finding what will allow you to thrive and feel your best. Stop overthinking it.

Glycation from carbs and insulin spikes are NEVER good. Full stop. What maters is homeostasis, and that balance is controlled by frequency of meals. Carnivore diet plays perfectly into intermittent fasting. Diet is only person-specific based upon an individual's nutrient/vitamin/electrolyte balance, NOT the types of "foods". We are ALL designed to eat a high fat, animal based diet.

Ask Dr. Berry about: I don't like fat so I eat top round cuts that are lean, but I have lost a lot of weight. I'm near the bottom of the healthy range (5' 6" at 127lbs, male, 73 years old, medium bones), so I bought beef Tallow, ( 100% pure grass fed, grass finished), I heat it under low heat and try to get 8 oz. liquid, with 1 lb of steak and dip the meat into that. Is that sufficient for my Fat consumption? I also take a small amount of solid tallow on a spoon and eat it with each bite if steak. Thanks.

I’m one of the females that has difficulty eating enough. I’ve never been big. I was never a dieter. I used to bake cookies and pies (etc) all the time & ate a lot of carbs daily. Now as a carnivore, a pound of beef is about the max I’m capable of digesting in a day. I did end up with thyroid and adrenal problems after a year and a half because of that. I’ve now added drinking raw milk and that’s helping- I am able to digest that quickly enough that it doesn’t reduce my other meals.

Ferritin is a protein that the body uses to sequester iron. It can want to do that for multiple reasons though. One is iron overload, as in there is too much iron in the bloodstream. The other is, as you said, an infection or high inflammation. The reason is that pathogens can also make use of iron to do damage to the body. That's why ferritin levels alone don't tell you anything.

Hi Lillie, thanks for this interview with Dr Berry. I started keto about 6 years ago, and one of the first pages I printed out from a Keto for Beginners website was titled 'Keto Flu is Optional' - the solution was electrolytes, as you probably know your body does not retain electrolytes (sodium, magnesium, potassium) on keto/low carb/carnivore, and as these get flushed out when you go to the toilet, they need to be replaced. I start each day with a quarter teaspoon of sugar free electrolytes from a brand named Endura, which is available down here in Australia. Whenever I start to feel a bit wonky on keto, which is quite rare, the electrolytes quickly resolve it.

For example fruit made me so bloated but i was in the tropics so I kept eating it and within a couple weeks it was fine. Iron isn't rust. Rust is iron-oxide. Iron can not be iron oxide without oxygen. The iron in your body can not turn to rust without copious amounts of oxidizers. A carnivore diet has little to no oxidizers as most oxidizers are carbohydrates. Also, most of the time, dietary iron is chemically bound to other minerals and chemicals, making the oxidizing process very difficult to impossible.
