This song has a special place in my heart. I was born and brought up in a Catholic family in Texas and my boyfriend was born and brought up in a strict Hindu family back in India. He moved to the states for college around four years ago. We met in class and instantly fell for each other. The difference in our races created many obstacles for us. This song is wonderful and heartbreaking to listen to at the same time. I can definitely relate to this song from personal experience. When I heard "Why I thought it was forever..." The tears just started rolling down my face. It's the moment that reality kicks in that the person that was EVERYTHING you ever needed and wanted will never be yours in the way you want them to be; however, the two of you always seem to reconnect...only for it end in pain again. the things he’s saying in this song all just happened to me in the last 2 months, twice with the same person. He’s everything I’ve ever wanted. He’s already found someone, but he’s into me too. He let himself get real close to me, only to pull himself back when I told him how I felt about him. I thought it was over but then it happened again in less than 3 weeks, he pulled me in all over again, shared so much with me, strung me along, made me feel like it was real and it was gonna happen. only for him to retreat a second time, this time even more crushing than the last makes me wonder if its just gonna happen all over again eventually.
