I used to love this song so much, I showed it to someone who was my chosen family. He was like my big brother. His name was Chris. He also liked this song alot. I would over play this in the car, and he didnt mind at all what I played or how loud I played it. He's dead now. He passed August 2019. I haven't been able to listen to this song in a long time, same with other songs. I also haven't really been ok or at peace with doing holidays anymore. Tonight I set up my own Christmas tree, which has been impossible for me to do for years due to the grief. Besides setting up my Christmas tree, I listened to a bunch of old songs that I used to play in the car or at home. I held his box of ashes to my chest and cried my eyes out. I'll never forget him, but it's a bit easier on me this year with grieving. I still think of him everyday, and I still text his phone on occasion and on holidays even if he can't answer. I still have other family but I was hurt so bad that I couldn't properly participate in holidays anymore. I was there for the most part, but every holiday hurt me inside. Merry Christmas to my big brother Chris Panagakis. I'll be sad for a while but I'll get back up. The tree looks good, and the presents for family and friends will look even better under it. I just thought I'd share a backstory with KZbin, I felt like writing it out.

It's still here at this time, but I can't get my fourth operation because I have a lack of white bloodcells. Because of that my body is too weak, they will operate me when my tumor grows so big that it can cause problems with my nerves in my cheeks that will cause me to have half of my face peralised. But the biggest issue is that there is a big chance my tumor will move itself to somewhere else. And because my tumor is located in my jaw the nearest places are my brain, lungs and heart. The biggest chance is that it will relocate itself to my brain.

I don't think people give enough attention to how dark this song is. He's saying how he thinks life is beautiful, but stating awful things that truly happen in the world at the same time. And the fact that he changes his line of "isn't life beautiful?" to "Isn't life horrible?" midway through the chorus adds even more to the ominous feeling of this song. An absolute masterpiece. 2024 Edit: Looking back at this comment, it's kinda stupid, so let me get my point across better. I think this song is a masterpiece because it disguises itself under this facade of positivity at first, but from the very first line he starts stating awful things that make him think life is in actuality the polar opposite of beautiful. That's the whole shtick of the song - the constant contradictions in the lyrics - but when he changes the line to "Isn't life horrible" and "Isn't life comical", that's what makes it hit that much harder. He stops contradicting himself. It portrays this feeling of acceptance, like he was in denial of how horrible life really is despite the cold hard facts, but he finally accepts that life is, in fact, horrible.

I don't think people give enough attention to how dark this song is. He's saying how he thinks life is beautiful, but stating awful things that truly happen in the world at the same time.
