I love the idea that this is a grandparents' home and they are having their grandkids stay for Christmas while the parents take a nice vacation, maybe. This really makes me want to decorate a mostly-white home with minimal accents of red and green, because whenever you leaned that direction I was like Yes, yes! It just looks so fresh and wintery. The wood tones do warm it up a nice amount, though.

This build totally reminds me of my childhood house and the way my parents decorate for Christmas. The red brick, the white wooden accents, the pretty lights, the bushes, the extra tree outdoors (my mom does 1 tall tree indoors, 1 tall tree outdoors, 2 smaller trees on the window seats, and a faux tree in the dining room), the nutcrackers...No snow though, because I live Louisiana lol.

Usually in my household we don't start decorating for christmas for a couple more weeks and that is because my dad's birthday is on the 11th and his entire life until he met my mom everybody was always forgetting his birthday in favor of christmas (doesn't help that he's the youngest among his siblings and about the tenth Nov-Dec birthday in a row in his family) so we make a point to not celebrate christmas until after we have celebrated Dad's birthday!

Nutcrackers do have a purpose other than being a display item irl, they crack nuts like the name entails. There's usually a lever on their back that opens the mouth and that's where you put the nut to crack it

regarding the train... the wagon with coal is always hitched immediately behind the locomotive... any other wagons come after that... (passenger cars, cargo etc...) but yeah... in my country you see a lot of people have a little train-track around the tree... (we've completely ditched the tree and just swapped it for tons of Lego christmas trees in different sizes, as well as a functional train driving around our living room... lots of winter-village sets with houses and shops and stuff everywhere... and the collection is growing each year...)

The kind of sad thing for me is that my paternal grandfather and his wife always exploded Christmas in their house. I only got to see them and my dad's stepfamily once a year for Christmas, but my grandparent's home was exactly like this. A Christmas explosion with a mix of the old and modern in it. Seriously my grandmother had an Angel statue from I think the 1890s on the very modern entertainment center (for the time). They passed away within 6months of each other in 2016 and were married over 30 years. I wish I could have gotten to know my grandfather better and his side of the family. Thinking about him makes me smell spaghetti. My grandparents had 16 grandkids and hung a stocking for each of us they also had every movie you'd ever want to watch on VHS and DVD and you could sign them out in the library log book.
