I feel very similar when I am out and about about what inspires me, but I have learnt to take lots of pictures, especially architecture and have found it helpful to add into things in other paintings later on, even if they havent inspired me at the time. I love how this video encourages to take pics and enjoy the sketching out and about and then bring it home to paint as I paint like that!

your goal of having a body of work that could end up being in a gallery sometime made me think about how at least near me you can apply for art grants through local historical societies/art galleries usually theres a bit of a wait (like youve gotta apply like a year or more in advance i think?) so that may be something fun to look into! i’ve never pursued it (at least not yet i kinda hope i can eventually get my art to a point where i would feel confident enough to do that) but i had a professor in college who did that and encouraged us to try and it seems like it could be something that may be interesting to you once you’ve found that kind of meaning and purpose you want to pursue!!! Keep up the lovely work :D

Cedar Key is also a good place to get inspiration and plus is also more of a old classic Florida town, it’s an hour away from me but I used to live in Pinellas county so I had visited the sponge docks and John’s pass many times

Loving this series and hearing all about your process, I am currently in a senior portfolio class and going through a similar journey (except with an exhibition at the end). After five weeks of making art I was unsure about, definitely learned the importance of notes and following your own intuition

Haven't had free time lately to watch much KZbin but I'm glad I sat down and watched this. I feel like I've been so overwhelmed with media constantly and I want to try to find myself as an artist as well and this was very inspiring to watch.
