Great information, thankyou. I type this after preparing some fresh garlic for dinner and I can smell the garlic as I watch this ❤😂

The best informative video on these two plants on KZbin and for those starting to forage could easily get caught out.

Been collecting a bit of wild garlic recently. There's sections near me where there are tonnes of them and also the garlic mustard.

Thank you so much! Lily of the valley is super common here in Finland, and we learn not to touch it as children already. I've been wanting to get into foraging and know we also have wild garlic somewhere near where I live, but I've been too unsure to go looking. This was very concise and simple!

Interesting. Wild garlic in my area is not broad leafed. I do have Lily of the Valley. I grow it specifically because it is my birth flower, May. Love the scent. Hello from sunny Oregon, US.

Common names can be used for different plants in different countries or even villages. The wild garlic in this video is Allium ursinum, native to Europe. Wild garlic in Oregon is probably Allium vineale, a highly invasive species from Europe. Best to remove as much as you can. Do check first if it isn't a native species though, wild garlic is a common name used for many alliums with a garlicy taste.

@UKWILDCRAFTS a video idea could be making vinegars from foraged plants. I've been dehydrating different things then making random vinegars. Makes great flavouring to foods

I heard to be careful that if you pick wild garlic and then touch Lily of the Valley you may transfer the scent on your hands from one to the other, and then mistakenly identify the latter as the former.
