I had a heck of a time trying to do this with 18 gauge deadsoft wire. So I tried it with 20 gauge wire and it was a little easier to do. I love this technique and just wanted to say thank you for sharing!

Sorry to hear that. I haven't had those problems, but I know how frustrating it is when jewellery-making turns into a struggle! I'm glad you found a solution though, and hope you enjoy the piece!

Thank you for such a great tutorial. It was so easy to follow along with you. I watched the tutorial once then got my tools and materials together and followed along pausing as needed. My first came out ok but am getting better with each one and am now adding little touches to make it mine. Thanks again for a great tutorial

This is so lovely! Please tell us if Dead Soft or Half Hard wire was used in both 18 Gauge and 26 Gauge? Looks like Round wire too? Its a good ideal that you showed the finished design top left corner of screen during the process, for referral. Loved this necklace! So easy to make. Incredible that you made everything by hand, so creative!

Beautiful! Probably not a project for a newbie, esp. a newbie with arthritis in my hands. Still appreciate the tutorial. I could probably make this knot with leather cording, a much softer material. TFS!
@LilyTree7 жыл бұрын
Thanks Michelle! This knot isn't too difficult, but the wire can take some 'persuasion'! I'd definitely start with the savoy knot and see how you go with that first. As before, moving down to 0.8mm wire will make it a bit easier, as will making the knot a bit larger, but yes, it would look great in cord!

Love this design, but instead of just plain jump rings between sections how about small coils with loops each end? Simple to do and adds another interesting wire element!
@LilyTree7 жыл бұрын
Brilliant idea Linda! One of the things I love about the Celtic Knot is the options for the chain and the elements you can add into it.

You do such a great job of keeping wires together...love your art. Thanks for sharing! Do you use a specific wire?
@LilyTree7 жыл бұрын
Thank you! I use pure, bare copper for these videos, which tends to be a little softer than the plated or coated wire. For this knot, I used 1mm diameter wire (18 gauge) but I think 0.8mm (20 gauge) should work too.
@joannelewis40244 жыл бұрын

Would be helpful if you give the GAUGE wire, instead of MM's only. Also, is it soft, half-hard, or hard wire?
@LilyTree7 жыл бұрын
Thanks for the feedback. I'll try and add that in where I can, but I do have a conversion chart available at www.createwithcopper.co.uk/single-post/2016/09/14/Wire-basics . None of my wire suppliers state the hardness, but I would say it comes soft, which is ideal for this particular piece.
@rhondateris27117 жыл бұрын
Hi Ann, I printed this one out and taped it the side of my computer screen. It helps me a ton! And all the tutorials I've done, they use dead soft copper wire. www.firemountaingems.com/resources/encyclobeadia/charts/6404

What gauge is the wire?
@LilyTree7 жыл бұрын
Hi Annette, I used 18 gauge for the knot - although you could use 19 or 20 gauge. And the wire for the chain is 26 gauge, but I chose that to go through the beads, so you could adjust it depending on the beads you use and their hole size.
