This episode we build a new (easy) horde base on the roof of the BUY N GO store. And we use a couple of pipe bombs...

hahaha that was a great horde. It is everything you want in a horde episode. A solid concept, occasional unexpected zombie pathing issues and lots of fire and explosions. I liked the moonshine bit. My current playthrough is a Roadhouse theme where I use only fists and mollys and have to have my base and hordes in one of the bar POIs. It is great fun to stack the beer, skullcrushers and other buffs against higher level zombies. anyhow, great episode as always. I am excited about the move to the snow biome.

Cheers Mike! This was definitely the most fun horde so far! Those zombies were too kind when they made a little chute for my pipe bombs 🤣 I always forget to use the various buffs, ill try to make a point of remembering when we get to the snow cos i think the bump in gamestage might come as a bit of a shock in the beginning!

that looked like lot of fun. Great series, looking forward to more. Probably don't need to remind you, but be sure to place the sledge turret so that it hits the zombies from the left so it doesn't set off demolishers in future episodes. (or is far less likely to)

ooh I think this might be new information to me! Are you saying the demo's button hitbox covers their front and their right side? I never thought about it but assumed it was just their front... You might have saved me a lot of potential issues haha! Cheers!

@@kingofthezeds The button is actually on the front but if the junk sledge hits them from the right as they are walking past it will fire on an angle that can and will set them off. Hope that makes sense.

Between the sledge turret and spears penetration ability I did horde nights up through day 42 as pretty much all melee except for birds and cops. Didn't even use any powered traps like fences... just sledgie knocking them off and my spear in their faces. I probably could have gone longer but I just couldn't keep myself playing Vanilla any longer.

I'm surprised how good the spear is even in vanilla tbh!

@@kingofthezeds Yeah, the spear changes were one of my favorite things about A21 because it was absolute trash compared to every other weapon in the game for so many Alphas before that.

@@kingofthezeds hell, my Day 1 horde in my Horde Any Night game was on par with the one you just fought numbers wise. I basically hid on the roof of the Tier 1 Pop-n-Pills and stabbed Z's in the head from half way down the ladder. I had nothing but a stone spear and about 20 stone arrows. There would be no ramp up time with short manageable hordes in DF, it'll go straight to full night shit show right out the gate. When the Cops and other spitters started showing up I was using them like pipe bombs to blow up the other Z's but being spit at for half the night was more than I expected to be dealing with.

I can't even imagine playing horde every night / 2 nights etc on DF. They're on a different level LOL It is really disorientating playing a playthrough on vanilla and DF at the same time right now!

The lower part of that wall is just Flag stone and 1,200 hp so it's even weaker than the cobblestone fighting position. between the path of least hp and the spike pile around the stairs it was just a question of where they chose to try and tunnel through your foundation instead.

ah yeah as soon as I saw what was going on i realised / remembered... Do they literally do the maths and calculate the number of all hp they have to get through to reach me? That's mental. I knew it was that way for buildings/blocks, but traps too? talk about defeating the point of having traps LOL

@@kingofthezeds that "Total HP Path Calculation" thing they do is the reason so many people joke about the Zs having engineering degrees. From what I understand when it comes to the spike traps (and barbed wire, log spikes, etc) the ones set on the ground/flat surface aren't registered as obstructions because they can move through them but ones that are at chest height mess with their pathing for some reason and they will see stairs and ramps with spikes on them as if they aren't a viable path (or at least a very low preference path) if you put spikes on them. I believe it's a side effect of the special coding that the AI applies to the spikes (and similar trap blocks) so that they will walk through them and not attack them instead.

I just got to say I as much as I do not like this game because of the shenanigans with the fun pimps and their desire to run away from the console come people for the original game I will therefore never spend another Penny on 7 Days to Die except for Content creators I enjoy watching you build you do a great job and I love the playthrough I would much rather content creators make money than the fun pimps
