It is also worth noting that with the new firmware, you actually don't need to swap out HDD in the PS4. External drive is currently supported with new firmware updates, just like the Xbox One.

Region locking is also an issue with DLC. If you import a game and you have an account from a different region, the game will work but the DLC won't sadly.

Hey quick question and thought. You mentioned that this specific variant is limited to reading Blu-ray due to restrictions of region. Is it due to hardware? Because if it’s not, I was think what if you reload the OS downloaded from the US site of PlayStation to possibly removed the region coding issue. Just a wonder. Any input?
