As a fellow audio nerd who loves getting into the technical aspects and not just the "use your ears" advice, I appreciate these videos immensely. Between you and Dan Worall, it's enough to learn the craft.You'll end up making more informed decisions when you master the tools and stop thinking of them as voodoo. On another note, have you tried running the "Phase" module in RX with the "Suggest" feature? It can squeeze out an extra half dB or so by trying to center the audio as close to the zero line as possible, especially if peaks are leaning to one side.

It's very difficult for a musician to feel and above all to understand these variations, mathematical adjustments and sound modifications. .... mixing and mastering are totally different arts from music, but so complementary! !!!! and the fact of learning them to make links, greatly improves the sounds between them ...and this is factual of course !!!!. I also admit that sometimes, it's a bit too hard ... so I stop the video, pick up the guitar and “rap” anything (me too hahahaha ...) to relax my head ... and then I come back all fresh and available for the rest .... Thanks for sharing Nicholas

Cool video. In the mastering video series by izotope, the ME talks about cycle time in regard to the attack. If you want punchy bass transients you need to let at least a whole cycle of the lowest frequency through. Thought that was interesting as well

Reckon you could do a video on Limiter No6? Would love to hear your thoughts and watch you put it into practise
@You-ud2fp6 ай бұрын
You should check out limiter by mastering the mix. His selling point on it was it leaves the bass untouched where as most limiters will def reduce the bass impact etc

This is insane I just finished a mix yesterday and heard this problem in a few of the kick hits and was wondering the best way to fix it
@synthzizer33246 ай бұрын
You need to automate your mastering inserts to ebb and flow with each different section of music. You cannot just pick the densest part and use that to set up the entire processing on the rest of track.

The music is very good, it is very fun, it is special, even the pseudo-Spanish phonetics are great. They don't say anything in Spanish but it's very interesting. It has a lot of quality. Thank you

All very well, however, During Mastering, you wouldn't not put the threshold at -20dB, instead the threshold is placed much higher, so the release can be set much shorter to where the limiter can be transparent
@topiclke7772 ай бұрын
I know it’s late but he exaggerates his settings a lot cause the compressor on KZbin is not the best to notice the frequencies and settings

Does anyone have that equation with the hz x 4000 or whatever to get the fastest release time you can go with on the lowest waveform? He said it in one of his videos

@@panorama_mastering I really feel like I’m stuck. Idk if it’s bad sound selection and if it is how to make it better haha. Feel like I understand sidechaining very well I have all the tools to help. I understand the sound of kick passing and the phase that could happen if not in phase or lined up. But everytime I feel good about the kick I peep an oscilloscope and just get sad. Haha the waves are shaky like not rounded without a bump. And the ends never meet in phase line up. I seem to get the mix to -9lufs but the way form on oscilloscope is always changing never consistent. Gosh. Thank you! I’ll keep bugging and watching haha.
