I don't have such negative feelings when I speak with others. I can confidently speak English. I am from Nepal, a physics teacher, and an educational researcher. I have to communicate with several Educational researchers in the United States. When I talked to them they were surprised to listen to my English speaking. One of my friends who has stayed in the United States for the last 20 years claimed that my English speaking is better than many other immigrants in the United States. I feel proud of myself for having reached that level of speaking English. The credit goes to Hadar and her team. Had I not been in contact with Hadar's KZbin videos my English speaking wouldn't have reached this incredible height. Thanks, Hadar for your invaluable contributions!

Wow, everything she said is 100% true. Yes I have been living in a Sate for over a decades and still struggling with my fluency. It gets really frustrated over time when unable to achieve the fluency in your targeted language. My limited beliefs is because of the English language I am unable to achieve my career goals.

I've spent a great part of my life learning English by myself and one of the most frustrating things that I bump into is that no matter how much you study and study and study, you always will find words that you don't understand. So, frustration is a feeling that you are always facing when learning English.

But also, think of the fact that you can always grow more - no matter what. Even native speakers don’t know all words!!

Haddar, you are an amazing teacher. Sometimes I think "I'm too old to learn. I lost my chance to speak English 😢"

So my question to you is - how do you know this is true? And Do you know of anyone in the world who learned something new at your age? (And if it’s possible for them why wouldn’t it be possible for you?)

\I used to tell myself that English is hard. Now, however, when I face real difficulties in formal language, that phrase just seems foolish to me. The first reason of that is I didn't face real difficulties by that time, and the second one is all languages are hard anyway. Hadar, I couldn't agree with you more that mindset is paramount when it comes to the psychology of learning essentially any skill. That hinges on how you program yourself, and how well you know your personality. Thank you for this video! Best regards from an Ukrainian. Looking forward to more relocation-diary series!

I live in speaking country for 25 years. I don’t understand people, because all these years I work by myself as a cleaner on a house. I'm tired of seeing the distorted faces of English people who don't understand me or answer my questions inappropriately. I'm tired of answering the same questions over and over again during a short conversation in a store. I prefer to keep quiet and listen to English radio in the car.

Thanks so much for your words, I realized when I speak myself with negatives thoughts about the English as if I'd have to give 10 steps behind .......and I need to speak me with love and compassion myself, and finding again the confidence. Feeling good about yourself is key when you are inside learning process learning

One belief I usually have is that as a teacher, having an accent makes me less worthy of a teacher, and being paid so low reinforces that idea further. So many native teachers make twice what I make without ever having to study the language, my pronunciation is excellent, but even my face shouts LATINO all the time.

Hello Hadar nice and useful video, thank you! 🙏😊 A similar thing happened to me just a month ago during a trip weekend on the coast of a famous lake where I live. I was there with my family hiking up to the side of a mountain when I met two German tourists who suddenly talked to me😢 but they were thing to use my language Italian; so and I don't know why 😅, I replyed in English and in that exact moment I realised how my English was, just a short and I'd say schematic conversation☺️ about two snakes on a tree and the obvious "where are you from?" and they told me they were on a short holiday, just that. But, when we three left each other, I was thinking about that experience 😮 I had just had and....I started to think about it and recognize the good amd bad aspects of it. Could it be a close encounter with those limiting beliefs? 😅 I think! Sorry for the long story 🙏, thank you again! 😊👋

I spent 7 years without speaking english. When I started using it again, my abilities were better than ever. My secret? I watched stuff in English every single day and I also read countless books in the language. I used it every day as a tool to learn other things such as history, music theory, psychology, geopolitics, etc. At a certain point you have to start seeing yourself as a USER of the language, not only a learner.
