Jim you may want to consider not coaching other anglers on how to fight their fish. Ive noticed it in more then one of your vids. The deck hands will take care of that.

Really good video Cousin Jim! I've been on several boats out of San Diego over the past 3 years. I appreciate you and the crews patience with the newbies/novices. Last couple of boats I've been on this year, there was a mix of newbies/novices to very experienced. There a were a few of the experienced people who were not welcoming. In fact, they were straight up trying to intimidate, and being in general entitled jerks. No fun being on a boat with that kind of vibe. It became even worse when the crew was focused on helping the experienced vs. the inexperienced. Won't go on those boats anymore. Going down this Sunday for 1.5 day trip on a good boat with a good crew.

i know what you mean I have guys that are long time fishermen give an attitude towards me because I film and fish it makes it not fun when they treat anybody like that. Most the time it is a good experience on the boat I've only had one bad boat experience with the crew fortunately I have CRS disease and do not remember what boat it was as I always try and make a fun video. I will remember when I fish it again. tight lines!

That deckhand Matt is such a nice man. I had seen him on several boats. May be Ocean Odyssey last year . Great guy. Thank you Cousin Jim for mentioning him and others. Hope to run into you one of these days. I am enjoying your videos. Any thoughts to what happened to the big ones ?

Jim I am in Japan and just bought 2 shimano beastmaster 6000MD and 9000. Let's see some electric reel tuna fishing. I will bring at least 1 on the pacific dawn 2.5 day trip in September. Come show me how to use it. 😂

how often do they bite the jig on the drop or wind up? the thought of dropping 300-400ft just to wind it up to drop again seems tiring! i don’t have confidence in my jigging ability so all i have is a rail rod and reel combo.
@travisbright246 күн бұрын
If captain says fish are at 350 ft you would drop your jig to about 400-450 ft and then wind up past the fish to about 300ft and drop back down to 400ft keeping your jig in about a 100 foot zone. Still can be a lot work but don’t have to drop all the way down and bring it back to the surface each drop.

@@travisbright24 It is a lot of work you get tired just reeling when a fish hits the adrenaline kicks in and you are no longer tired

@@cousinjim1 absolutely 🤣 staying up all night doesn’t help either lol. I was on the Apollo 2.5 two weeks ago and it was all night fish, drinking coffee all night and fishing 9pm-5am but got 6 BFT so all worth it.
