I think he's comparing the younger people with kooky headsets and plushies to people of his generation or older who continue to use/wear certain things from their youth despite getting older. He's wondering if those things fall under that category because he doesn't understand it as an older person. Also he probably hates it.

It's tricky to summarize but it appears he's commenting on selective immaturity, for want of a better term. It a generational thing. The way a youtuber or streamer can go into baby brain mode for their audience and have their room full of funko pop, plushies, little figures and talk like a moron like Markiplier shouting at the screen over and over for laughs but they go on to invest their youtube money and buy a $32k car on finance, keep on top of their bills, book flights and trips as well. It's a weird observation.

I suppose a good example would be those tiktok creeps where you've got a guy in his 40's with a wife, two kids, mortgage, career but on the weekends he's recording himself in the kitchen and clipping certain parts of songs cause even though he's in his 40's that part of his brain which is still 14 is thinking "Yeah this beat would be so cool in a scene where like this guys strutting down a street I'll do that" then he's trying to duet with girls who are in his daughter class

Im nearing thirty, and still love toys and plushes. I feel like theres an endless amount of reasonings for it.
