Walked through the Limousin region and saw plenty of cattle in the fields , having found a bed in a farm we talked about the cattle ,they live in "perennial pastures" , big fields of grass where they stay year long the cows are all related and a new bull stay with them , never saw such zen bulls , I guess it's close to bull heaven it's quite rainy and they need very little hay , calve on their own with no problem and are virtually maintenance free . the winters are harsh , the farmer wife told me that she was worried about a cow who had just calved , she took a lantern and walked in the snow to check the mother and calve were crouching in the middle of the herd , which formed a close circle around them three of the older cows rose and stood between her and the calf , they knew her well but the message was clear none of your business , go away !

That sounds like an incredible experience! It’s amazing to hear how the cattle in the Limousin region live in such harmonious and natural conditions.
