Yay! I think I just found a winner out of all the other plastic bag repurposing vids I watched 2day. Now I think this might solve the problem of where to find/buy material to make a poncho or rain slicker kind of covering for my Chiweenie! Thank you so much 4 sharing this creative & super cute looking idea/project w/us!

Thanks Kathy - I must confess that I did not make the mushroom bag. My sister is the real plastic bag artist and she gave it to me as a gift. It is Alice in Wonderland themed and I love it too. :-)

Absolutely terrific job! Beautiful! Useful! And totally inspiring! I hated plastic bags wholeheartedly until now. Where I live, you actually have to buy these flimsy bags at the check out and I would never do that because I always bring my own bags when I go shopping. I hate anything one-time-use-plastic very much, it's so wasteful and pointless. Well, now maybe I have to go against my convictions and buy plastic bags the next time 😂

Is it just grocery bags that you can use? I was thinking of the plastic tablecloths since there is a variety of colors. 🤔
@UpcycleDesignLab6 ай бұрын
Hi Darla - Yes you can use plastic table clothes. You will want to test the plastics that you are mixing because some melt at different rates and will not work very well together.

hi I'm just curious, how strong is it? can I carry heavy things in a bag made with it? thanks
@UpcycleDesignLab Жыл бұрын
Hi it depends on how many layers of bags you use but I would say that eight layers of plastic makes a pretty strong fabric. Hope that helps. Thanks for watching. 🙂

It is rainy in Los Angeles, CA because of the storm. Have some light weight but outdated wind breakers, many baseball caps and clothing of that sort. Just wonder if people recycling and converting them into rain ponchos using plastic bags, hot iron, hot glue gun, hot glue sticks, and parchment papers. I believe that it can be quite easy, creative, and practical.

On the 90s during goth and punk days u coukd buy nice pocketbook made from recycled tires. Very expensive but last forever! WITH these shopping bags..I woukd use them for cat litter. I need them but can't get them anymore so now I have to buy them. What's the point of supermarkets stopping using them..now I need to buy them! I get it. I'm a recycling freak. I recycle everything..but I need my garbage bags.

We don't allow plastic grocery bags in our state anymore either so they are harder to come by.
@debrabrooks6138 Жыл бұрын
I was thinking this could be a useful way to make raincoats for your dog and pets, and even yourself. I too am thinking it could make water proof diaper bags and umbrellas! Can mylar bags be used in the same way to make tarps or sleeping bags for heat like for survival? How about waterproof tents for the homeless or for camping?

At what temperature must one set the iron?
@UpcycleDesignLab11 ай бұрын
Hi Francis - I would start with a med high heat but you will probably have to test out your iron. It also depends on what plastic you are using and how many layers. Sorry I don't have an exact answer for you. Thanks for watching 😊
