I was a Huawei P30 pro user (the last Huawei flagship phone with GMS before the ban). Loved it and missed it so much. After 4 years plus of using it I have to move to Honor Magic 5 Pro, as I need GMS. I'm not too sure downloading Google apps on latest Huawei phone will solve all the issues that current/earlier Huawei phone users (eg P40 pro) are facing, like Android auto connection. And there are some apps (small niche, only certain group professionals use them) either slow to update in AppGallery, or just never exist. It is not easy for those who aren't tech savvy enough to manually download and update those apps regularly (I'm definitely one of the tech noobs) Honor is the closest shadow of Huawei to me. I really hope one day Huawei phone will be back in full glory again.

@@sarahashun1180 have been using Magic5 Pro for almost a year. Generally it feels like Huawei phone, except a little bit less Polish in the operating system. Otherwise it is good with no issues.

Yep. There's plenty of options. My Huawei uses Gspace and there's also GBox and Lighthouse

So in Malaysia they preinstall microG. Major question I have why? Is that some legal requirement or thing that Huawei uses that is specific to Malaysia but not other regions? Also this is EMUI 14 I assume. You did not have to install microG from the AppGallery manually?

Without MicroG, Huawei no longer having a competitive advantage over other Android phones since most Android apps requires google services. I'm currently using Huawei Mate 40 Pro with Lighthouse (comes with MicroG) installed and so far everything works perfectly fine for me. I also use Aurora Store to get apps that are not available on AppGallery

I think Google Pay will work. But you wouldn't get cloud, chrome service. Some updates will not be automatically updated like Google Play Store, and so you will have to update the playstore yourself. Notifications can sometimes also be a problem. Sometimes, they will not be displayed on your display. Sometimes, it will work if you go to the settings menu and do it manually tik the boxes for every application. Most things can be fixed with sideloaded with APKs. Be very, very careful with getting a global rom. They are not official. What you will get is a phone that is unlocked and impossible to update like a one-time hit wounder.

@@curiouscore18 I'm in the US now. The Huawei 70 Pura Ultra was purchased in China so it is the local Chinese version. The Huawei Watch 4 Pro was bought in Dubai. The funny thing is every once in a while when you open the Huawei Health APP the Watch Faces will pop ups for like 1 second and then immediately vanish

Had p40pro but couldn't get it to work with my banking app. Had all Google apps via a guy on the internet but the bank app knew it was Huawei and wouldn't allow it saying this app does not work on this phone. I really miss my Huawei phones miles better than my pixel.

Inspite of all these so called android phones with Google play services, don't you ever thought of why still people are buying Huawei phones and trying to install Google apps and prefer to use a Huawei device in such a condition. That is called a truly "INNOVATIVE" . Google introduced body temperature sensor in Google pixel 8 pro in 2023, which was already present in Huawei mate 40 rs porshe design in 2020. Google going to introduce satellite communication technology through their phones in upcoming model which unfortunately an old story for Huawei users since 2022 after Huawei mate 50 pro. Many more like this. Still inspite of all these restrictions they are no giving up, they are coming strongly every year. Imagine what might have been the situation if all other android and ios devices if Google services were still available for Huawei devices .
