Wonder why this GREAT song didn't crack into the Top 40? Great sound from late '65 !
@jackjules75522 жыл бұрын
Because the song did not make DJ radio playlists in many cities. I can tell you that it did not play in Los Angeles. Perhaps if the song had been released a year or two earlier it would have made the top 40. But by the time that this song was released in 1965 Dee Dee had been without a hit for two years and had lost her hit momentum and her relevance to the teen market.

@@jackjules7552 it sure did play in Los Angeles…this was heard ALL OVER east L.A. and is quite a classic especially with Hispanic youth…The song was also a big hit along the border of Texas as well…Del Rio, El Paso, Brownsville and places in between. And by the sound of this record, I don’t hear any loss of momentum whatsoever.

@@mrob75 I am sure you are correct. But I never heard the song on KRLA, KHJ or KFWB which were the main top 40 stations in Los Angeles at that time. I'll admit I did not listen to any of the what they called the "soul" radio stations at that time simply because they did not transmit very well into the San Fernando Valley. Don't get me wrong I love the record. Like you I just wonder why it did not get a higher national charting like Miss Sharp's previous recordings. By momentum I don't mean the quality of the record.. I mean radio play politics. What is your theory as to why the record did not crack the national top 40?
