A moving, sometimes funny, and ultimately uplifting story about the love and commitment of two extraordinary people. Lin, 54, is blind and has cerebral palsy. Husband Ralph, 70, is her full time carer, and has Parkinson’s disease. They are living proof that two people who really care for each other can move mountains. Filmed over 17 years by close friend and award winning documentary maker Marilyn Gaunt, this is an intimate portrait of a marriage that has overcome incredible odds.

Ralph died in 2011 aged 76. Lynn is still campaigning for disability rights and access and has been trying to crowd fund carers for herself. She is still a tour de force. What a lovely man he was.

My husband and I have been together for 30 years. In our youth neither of us ever thought of being anything but able bodied. At age 44 I was struck with a myriad of ailments that landed me in a wheelchair as well as unable to do many other things most folks take for granted. Through my pity parties, rages & deep depressions my husband has taken it all in stride. I am never made to feel anything other than his love, his lady, his partner in life. He has stood steadfast beside me when another man would have run. Watching the story of Lin & Ralph brings tears to my eyes because I know that real love truly does bear all things.

Belen Arias What a wonderful video and story this is. Such a marvellous and loving couple. My own husband has had Parkinson's disease for 30yrs. He was diagnosed with Lewy Body dementia over 10yrs ago. Two yrs ago, my husband had a fall which saw him being hospitalised for over 3 months and he wasn'texpected to survive by anyone... except me and our children. Subsequently, my husband needed 24/7 nursing care and has a nurse with him every moment of the day and night. I visit for hours each day, with children and family visiting a few times weekly. My husband doesn't always recognise people, but does recognise me for the most part. We have been together since I was 15yrs old. Our love has only become deeper and I know that eternity is ours. Yes it is . beauty is the word. This is true beauty. Russian women much like this lad, see with the soul. Though he isn't Russian. But just saying .. growing up.. I wasnt the type to be shallow . If he made me feel great and was funny and fun and had a soul then I found them attractive. That is my culture . And the guy usually felt like I was being fake because pretty girls as they felt were picky. But .. nope. I believe in kinetic energy like a radio wave . U can't see it but it signals. And it reaches . Beautiful this is.

Russian Roulette Obscured yes that’s like me personality and making me laugh makes people more attractive that good looks . I also tend to go for people with what other people would call imperfections but I think it makes someone more attractive and importantly I’m not afraid to be single , I’ve been single for 3 years atm because I’ve not met anyone that makes my stomach fizz. Some people just be with someone just not to be single .This love affair was lovely to watch sadly I’ve just read he passed away which must of been heartbreaking.

Why does this have 4 dislikes? It really allows insight into the unfortunate circumstances people with disabilities are going through. Also, it really opened my eyes. People in society usually forget (in a sense) that people with disabilities have feelings. They usually just put them in a bed, label them as unworthy, & move forward. It's really sad... :(

Maybe some people find it difficult to watch a story like Lin & Ralph's... not "entertaining"? Real Stories document many situations that make people extremely uncomfortable. Jonny Kennedy's story & Kelly and her Sisters are also inspirational, but emotionally charged... too much for some people. From comments, it is clear some viewers mark "dislike" after a few minutes & admit that they will not watch the entire video. So they miss the point, it would seem.

Dude, get some self-esteem and get out there! Why are you worrying about what you can't do? I've been in a wheelchair since I was a kid, and I dated all the time and have now been married for 25 years. It is awesome, but you have to be confident and put yourself in situations where you might get your heart broken - just like every other human on the planet. Go on dates, sign up for online dating, be a wingman for friends, be open and honest and you may find the right person for you. Good luck - I really am hoping you find the right one for you.

@Melting ArtDude.....Repent of sin, commit to Jesus and His Word, and walk with Him daily so you can receive eternal life in heaven as He says we must. Jesus answers prayers for his born again children. If you get saved you can pray for Miss Right. I have a son who is kind and generous, able bodied with a job, and he has trouble trying to find a decent woman. Sometimes I have seen documentaries where women have fallen for those with afflictions, height challenged, disabled etc. God does amazing things for his born again children (those who get saved). Let us know how it's going. Hope you are ok and have not lost hope. If you need prayer any time just call out. I like real life docos like this story too. Cheers. (Mum).

It’s been five years since your comment, Mr. ArtDude. I hope you have experienced the unconditional love of a woman who values you for who you are, not for what you do or don’t do. I hope you experience a genuine sense that disability does not define us in that it’s not our Identity. Disability is a part or but not all of who we are. Their great love for each other is what has helped them endure the difficulties of their lives. What a warm, tender husband Ralph is to Lin. And she also gives him the strength to go on. God, please bless these two.

I understand Lin is frustrated and even angry, but it's also an extremely common trait that people with inherited disabilities are very "entitled". That may sound harsh, but her attitude is appalling. She was extremely happy while Ralph was young and able, but her attitude towards him as he developed his own health issues is nothing short of disrespectful. Her demands of him are outrageous. She makes no effort to control or improve her diabetes either. I work in disabilities and her entitled attitude is so common, but so disgusting. This started out as a beautiful love story, it's a shame that the relationship soured the way it did. What happened with the airline is also a disgrace, say no more. I know she loved him, but ffs, accept your disability and go to a facility and give the poor man a break

My husband and I can relate to this couple and the issues they face in life. I became chronically sick 7 years ago, I continued to work part time until I could no longer fulfill the demands of the role. I became increasingly worse very quickly, losing my independence and relying on my husband for everything. I needed home care while my husband worked, by this time I was 98% bedbound. Within 6 months, my husband went from fully abled and caring for me, to extremely ill and disabled himself. It was a massive shock and he was in denial for the first 18 months. I still receive home care but my husband has been waiting on the priority list for an assessment of home care needs in his own right, for a year. He has lost so much weight due to the fact he cannot feed himself often enough. Together, our ability to keep up with financial demands and other household administration is not only beyond our capabilities, but also a constant reminder that we're failing to keep up with the pace of life, demanded by the necessities of running a household. It's like being punished everyday for being the slow, stupid kid in the class. So far, any services set up to assist people like us, only offer advice down the end of a phone and not the physical and practical support needed for us to achieve these chores. It has lead to anxiety, depression and a complete loss of self esteem for both of us.

@@ambervanzitamore I don't think any amount of money could reflect or compensate the physical, mental and emotional damage caused. A huge airline company dragging things out, offering them a measly pay out and making them suffer even more, is inexcusable.

@@griggleyrock666...Like ALL big companies in cases like that... Lynn is lucky to have had the money to fight them.... A professor here in Australia, botched my hip replacement... I had three major surgeries to correct it, It got worse... it reduced my active way of life by at least 75%. I tried to sue this creep of professor. But was not able to do so, Lack of money. I applied for legal aid, and was told by that organization sorry, we only handle criminal cases... In other words, destroying some ones life, is not a crime in this country... I am now 77 years old, and have lost the use of my legs, dragging myself around from day to day with help of a walker and a crutch. Each day i wake up i try first and foremost to stayhappy.. But its getting harder.

"Lucky" the airline manhandled her. Is her contention that she would've been fine without that incident? Nothing like taking advantage of Big Business because you can.
