It's part of the game. What fun would LCW have playing against a robot who can not lose? nobody would even see that match! Lin Dan had everything. I think no one in the nearest 1000 years will be as godlike as Lin Dan. He is a genius on court!

I feel in the first half of his career, Lin Dan's strongest weapon is his attacks, extremely ferocious but in the second half of his career his biggest strength became his almost miraculous defence, getting back balls which are seemingly supposed to be sure winner for the opponents. At this old age, he's naturally struggling.. maybe his eyesight is not as good, maybe his reflexes are not as sharp, his reactions slower ... I really hope he can return to his best but age is merciless ...

I don't think he is going to win. He is a really great player, no doubt, and has the play to be Olympic Champion, but LCW and LD is, in my eyes, the best. CL got the better against LCW at WCH 14 & 15 (lucky at 14, but way better at 15), but LCW has improved his game to the better, especially against a player like LCW

not really, his court coverage and reading helps in being ''faster'' too. LCW has better raw speed, like a machine. But Lin Dan has better coverage, reading, effortless footwork, he makes it seems too easy. LCW always seems forced and seems to put a lot more energy into moving around. I would compare LCW to Nadal (who is faster in terms of raw speed), and LD to Federer who makes everything seem too easy, he's hovering the court and not making unnecessary steps.

Saddam Hussein if you have been watching them against each other on live which I do, you will notice the difference between their smashes in term of stiffness, opportunity, strength and of course wrist strength. Lcw is always forcing the shuttle to hit the ground, while lin Dan ways of playing is to control the shuttle and only attack when he had the opportunity. Sorry to say there’s no way you could lin Dan to Lee chong wei not any player by far in badminton history. That guy is like a beast still at the age of 33-34.

I’m pretty sure if lin dan plays attacking game all the time, it is nearly impossible for anyone to beat him before 2016. Master of everything, defending, reading skills, shots controlling, trick shots, quality of shots, deception, attacking, diving skills, court coverage, footwork, netskill. Lcw can only match him in terms of speed. I wouldn’t even surprise if lin dan is actually faster than lee chong wei as well

@@JulyFourth1776 While I do think that LD has a smoother and more energy efficient footwork than LCW, I think it's also because he is slightly taller. He around 1m78 and LCW is 1m70-72? Doesn't look like much but LD does seem like he has perfect proportions to play badminton, his legs seem on the longer side. When you look at LD playing in his prime, his footwork really seem effortless, hard to pinpoint exactly what he is doing differently. It's also hard to compare ONLY the footwork, because footwork and movement also depends if you can read your opponent's shots well. When LCW plays against LD, LCW might have trouble adjusting his footwork because LD's shots are harder to read + he'S left handed. But LCW's footwork seem perfect when he plays against other opponents, like he can move from base position to a smash really fast but this could also be due to the fact that LD's depth and height of clears are just enough so that LCW can't smash easily. So while I do think LD's footwork is better, I think that it's partially due to the fact that he's taller and he has better anticipation skills.
