Linlin is not a giant you already saw her parents she is a very abnormal human but a human nonetheless. If she were a giant she would be around twice as big as she is. From what the story infers she likely has giant blood in her lineage way back maybe one of her ancestors could be a giant.

Just for clarification - Big Mom is NOT a giant. She is a large human. She was born to two normal human parents though she grew abnormally large. Genetically, she is still a human though. Its similar to how Whitebeard was big but wasn't actually a giant.

the trope of children with power that's MUCH too great for their own good has always been so interesting to me, it's interesting how cruel children can be and it's even scarier when they're unknowingly doing it. big mom really taps into that aspect and i love it

Yeah, I think it's frustrating even after the first time, when we already know what's coming. My thought process on why Carmel fails to teach reasonable discipline or put any limits on little Linlin's behaviour is that... (*SPOILERS BELOW*) : : : ...she figured she only had to deal with her for a short time and it wasn't her problem what would happen later on, after she gets paid. I'm sure she was also a little scared of her but we didn't see much fear so I suspect it was secondary to her greed. From what little we see, I can't think of any good reasons for Carmel letting things go the way they do.

Yep, Linlin isn't a giant, but more like a human with gigantism. And as you can see, she was even a handful for "pure" giants. Scary, but also a bit sad..... 😟

Humans in One Piece naturally have all sorts of characteristics and sizes. The diversity of design is one of the reasons why I love this show. It's not the same standard generic type you see in a lot of anime. It's very recognizable.

i get the sentiment of sympathizing for her abandonment but for real tho, imagine you give birth to big mom what the fuck do you even do? she's insane, kill bears with her own hands, can kill giants at 5 years old and go into a rampage every time she's hungry not manageable at all for humans, hell not even manageable for giants, and she most def killed a bunch of people for them to get her to be exiled big mom is built different and could honestly be the more clinically insane person in one piece (apart from maybe brook), i genuinely don't know if anything could have been done for her, which is kinda tragic

It's like this, the humans in OP have their potentials, if the cap level is 99, Linlin is an unatural occurrence, she's like...lvl 50 as a kid (the umber is illustrative), and with an appetite disfunction/psychological anomaly to boot, way more than her regular human parents can handle, so they sent her to giants thinking they could handle her...big mistake
