I was so excited because they are two rising stars in asian tt and both so young. Historically Lin wins most of the times. I actaully thought Harimoto might have a chance because he was much more stable this tournament, and Lin just had injury. But funny thing is Lin became instantly more confident playing Harinoto and destroyed him lol

But to be honest Harimoto has achieved more in terms of beating the top Chinese players more times in the more crucial tournaments than Lin has. Overall I think Harimoto is still a higher threat for the top Chinese player than Lin is because Lin is more predictable for the Chinese to counter him.

He is way too inconsistent. He has those days where he can beat any player in the world and on others he just loses against any of the top 30. He has these insane hit or miss shots, specially on return. On some days they are better than on others. Maybe he will improve his footwork even more so he can go with less risk on return and try to go through rallies.

Harimoto's loud shouts every time he scores a point do not comply with sports ethics. Such behavior is disrespectful to the opponent. Moreover, it does not comply with the dignity of the Asian identity. He needs to be trained on this subject. Apart from that, his talent is unquestionable. Lin, on the other hand, is respectful and her silence is fascinating. His talent and his respect are very compatible.

Basically, Lin is a talented and superior player, weakness being lacking a bit of power and rallying when forced to move out of position. Lin's serve and receive of serve are so good, Harimoto cannot gain any advantage there. So, Harimoto must use and counter Lin's initial attack well. Harimoto's strength is he can rally under pressure. But that's a losing percentage game if he cannot attack Lin.

Harimoto couldn't counter a Lin's initial chiquita with forehand, that's where the Taiwanese started building his win. That's weird bcs Harimoto being a strong initial chiquita user himself should've known it has more side than topspin therefore must be countered with more topspin. But he was continuing to hit the net with his forehand counter even after loosing some 5+ points on that
@david0ade Жыл бұрын
Really? from what I've observed there have been many shots where Lin lost the point when he steps forehand side to use BH chiquita and most of the time he lost because Harimoto is ready to counter to his backhand and Lin couldn't get back fast enough that's why Lin has been very careful not to do it too often.

They can make like 20-30% of the points or more. thousands of hours Training only serves and short play to force errors for direct point or for a weak receive to attack the third or forth ball.. .points don't only come from rallies and big fancy shots.. Rallies make actually the smaller part.. he is very respectful and he never ever shout on points he gets because of his net oder edge balls or any unusual situation.. He ist actually respectful and polite in every Aspekt if you follow his matches.. But you probably have the wrong view due to a lack of knowledge in professional and semi professional table tennis..
