I found this video very interesting and thought-provoking around anti-trust in USA and made me look up more about Dr Khan’s work. What surprised me badly though was that Dr Khan was referred to as “little girl” in your video. That’s unacceptable at the year of 2024 even when it’s used to show how surprised lobbyists were about her election.

Very good point. Very disappointed by BBC for being sexist like that. It's the little things that matter, and as long as people, especially journalists from reputable sources like BBC, will treat woman differently than men, it will perpetuate sexism in the society. If it was a man, would he be referred to as "a little boy"? Of course not, he would be "an ambitious young man". Do your part better BBC please, and just treat men and woman equally, even when it comes to the small details

Khan is doing a great job. All government departments are small and underfunded compared tto what the private sector, especially powerful tech has to work with, so things are going to take a bit long.

Very poorly made piece. You have got your facts wrong on Lina Khan. She has had many successes - more than 15 abandoned mergers because of her work in the anti-trust space. Her remit is much larger than big tech as it also includes brick and mortar companies involved in anti-competitive practices. The FTC is poorly resourced when compared to Big Tech and any action against Big tech takes time to go through the courts. Lina Khan is British born and has been a very articulate, reflective and efficient prosecutor of Big Tech. I am not sure how this makes her 'ambitious'. Get your facts right.

Great video in many ways, but the in-studio guest, Mr James Clayton, completely misunderstands the very term "antitrust". Historical monopolies were not engaged in "antitrust" as Mr Clayton implies, but rather in using _trusts._ It's the government's role to avoid such misuse of trusts, hence the government is engaged in "antitrust". A trust is a legal entity that the monopolies around the late 1800's and early 1900's used to organize multiple distinct companies into conglomerates that could be coordinated so as to act effectively as a single entity. Even though trusts are no longer used in this way, the term "antitrust" sticks around.

the complaints about FTC vetting mergers is a big whinge but it is central to free and open markets. these mergers touted as about greater efficiency refer mostly to market dominance, and price control; seldom a move for the greater good nationally............ free and open markets with low inflation cannot operate without checks and balances like these. otherwise self interest predominates...........khan is a top operator..............
