Wow! Very clear and thorough. I have been exploring/learning greek for about a week and I am gladly surprised to discover it is not as difficult as I first thought. This particular lesson just showed me how similar in this respect is greek to spanish (my native language). The declination is the difference, but basically only two is not much compared to Russian, german or latin,😀 Plus the phonetics are really easy for us, same sounds in 99% and similar ways of talking not to mention the similar etymology. A most wonderful language and excelent didactics here. Thanks🙏🇲🇽

Hi! Yes, all these years I've been working 10 hours a day so I didn't have much time! But I always had this channel close to my heart! Especially because so many people watched and liked my old lessons, despite their bad sound! So, now that I don't have that job anymore, I 've decided to come back! Thank you for watching!😀

Hey. I found your channel only because I needed to figure out the difference between the different versions of the volume articles. English is simply “the” and then I wondered when the NT text of the Bible sometimes says “ton” or “ho”. However, I didn’t notice any difference in the explanations for Strong’s Concordance of the Greek word 3588. In the KZbin search box, those two words, and then I found this video. It was easy! Thank you, Lina!

Thank you, Lina. I am not good with grids of information because my mind tries to take in all the information at once and I get a kind of panic but as soon as you begin to work with examples everything is clear and I can understand. I particularly liked the last example with the personal pronoun. English speakers used to study Greek and Latin in order to understand the mechanics of languages and grammar. Grammar is not taught properly in the UK. We only learn grammar if we want to speak another language and we get resentful that we have to work hard to comprehend it😂

Dear Lina, Re your . It is GREAT: but I am afraid that at the 4,23 minute table /Greek Def.Art.combined with preposition "se" the plural and singular have been mixed up.
@linaaaap17 жыл бұрын
Oh yes, I see it now! Of course singular is first and then the plural! The table is ok but the titles are reversed! No idea how this happened! Thanks for noticing!

Thank you for this! Can I ask a question? What is the meaning of the preposition "se"? When should it be combined with the article?
--------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------- The older "είς" has been simplified to the modern "σε". We use it together with the article, when we want to show a specific place, time, person, etc. (eg "it is (εις το)> στο - in the - living room"), (εις του)> στου - in George's house, I heard voices), (the plane left (εις την)> στην - on time), (our friends will come (εις τις)> στις - at 10), (among (εις τους)> στους - to many, I will be too).

9:53 ... So do you actually say "The pursuit the happines"? edit: never mind. Figured it out. "tis" is the genitive form of the feminine singular article :D
@apo.78987 жыл бұрын
Ο κανόνας για το τελικό 'ν' ήταν ο ίδιος ανεξαρτήτως φύλου στη γραμματική Τριανταφυλλίδη. Δηλαδή όσα λες για το τη(ν) ίσχυαν και για το το(ν). Καλύτερα να μάθουν να γράφουν πάντα 'τον', 'την'. Είναι ευκολότερο και δεν νομίζω πως θα βρεθεί κανείς να το θεωρήσει λάθος.
@williambush31844 жыл бұрын
Γειά σου! I have a quick question. On the chart combining "σε" + the definite article, isn't the top section singular and the bottom section plural? Ευχαριστώ.

in Koine Greek, is there a different conjugation between present active indicitive, and present active continuance....example....you believe, vs you continue believing..
@linaaaap14 жыл бұрын
In modern Greek (and I think also in classic Greek) there is no such distinction (I write vs I am writing). However I think that in Koine a special form was developed for present continuous. I am not an expert so unfortunately I cannot help more on this subject.

At 12:18, shouldn't it be της έδωσα την μπάλα? With "ν" at the end?
@linaaaap17 жыл бұрын
Hello! You are right! You see, just because I actually said "τη μπάλα"( which is of course not a mistake), I wrote it this way too. But if we want to be 100% correct, we should write " την μπάλα", because we use "ν" before "μπ". So, well done for correcting the teacher! :)
@leecanvas7 жыл бұрын
So I shouldn't pronounce the 'n' sound in την? Never? Or is there a rule when it's not pronounced?
@apo.78987 жыл бұрын
It is pronounced tis'eðosa ti'bala The final 'n' of the article isn't pronounced at all before fricatives, nasals, liquids and voiced stops and makes unvoiced stops voiced, irrespective of gender. (Apart from unvoiced stops the clusters 'ps', 'ks' change to 'bz', 'gz') So, it is pronounced as an 'n' only before vowels. But the rules of the grammar don't reflect that. I think what they teach in schools today doesn't make any sense. We should either write it a l w a y s irrespective of its pronunciation or write it only when it is pronounced (before vowels) and when it affects the following consonant (before unvoiced stops and the clusters ps, ks). I prefer the first one because it is simpler (and because no one will have a problem if you actually pronounce it, some people do occasionally).
@Dimas-d1j6 жыл бұрын
Only if you care very much about your grammar should you care about adding ν or not.Actually not even Greeks care about that ν very much,but when writing ,you should pay attention on using ν.

Lina, *Some critical review.* We don't hear you speaking Greek enough, far too little, and then much too fast and you don't repeat things a few times slowly. Your intonation in English is consistently incorrect. *Your efforts are admirable.*

Object pronouns must be a headache for English speaking people. For us, Spaniards, it is kind of similar.
