Yes, had they done that when they introduced it for '17, I would have bought it. I also agree with a previous comment that the rear end is bland. The front and side view is beautiful, but the rear looks like a Mazda. And please keep the Lincoln Continental name. (The Town car name has been overused it makes me think of airport transportation)

@@urigonzalez6300 Yeah I think the styling is generally agreeable, the Continental overall just looks small-ish and unassuming that's all. Doesn't have the commanding presence that it should have, like an S-class or even a CT6. The interior isn't as elegantly styled as the Navigator/Aviator either, but it came out first so it shows how much better Lincoln is getting with every new model. Had Ford spent the R&D money on a real platform for this car instead of nickel and diming by using Ford Fusion bones, I think it would have been a real player.

Little history why they were called “suicide doors” : Since the doors were hinged at the rear edge, if the vehicle was moving and they sprang open, anyone who grabbed to stop this from happening was whisked out of their seat into the roadway. Seat belts were not in use at that time. Pretty scary time back then 😱

The company I drive for has a regular Continental. We got one of the first ones to arrive in Portland. Loved the car at first. Looks awesome inside and out, and has a ridiculous set of rear seat features for the price (assuming you don't add 50k in options), and even the base 3.7L engine is fast and lovely. It also has more leg and foot room than our Navigator or Yukon Denali. But. It is actually a bit annoying to drive. The steering is a very fast ratio, has zero feel, but with 20-inch wheels the car tramlines and follows grooves pretty bad on the highway. The transmission is more easily confused than the one in the Chrysler 300. Our 300 is even a 12pax stretch, but that ZF 8-speed deals with it much better than the bone stock Conti. I'm sure the premium 800-way adjustable seats are nice, but the base model front seats are sized for a jockey and have overly aggressive bolsters and firm cushions. On long trips they're downright uncomfortable. But the big problem is the brakes. Everyone hates the brakes. They are overboosted to high hell. By the time you feel anything at all in the pedal, it's an AGGRESSIVE stop, making it feel like an unpredictable laser scanner.

@poolbum5 жыл бұрын
I don't think the passengers can tell the difference since they are chauffeured around. The difference for the passenger is the noise. It would not make a difference since current V6s and V8s on the market are extremely quiet. They even have to make fake engine noise now.
@poolbum5 жыл бұрын
@Saint Fifty One Apparently you don't know the much about the current engine technology nor environmental regulations. V8s have always been about hp and availability of torque. V6s with turbos provide those with less manufacturing cost of extra 2 cylinders. Current engine design is so good that their running noise is naturally low. Engine noise for a car is more than just muffler noise. It's the vibration and the feel of when you drive a car. Read up on some of the engineering of current sporty cars and you will know what i mean.

Well, damn Lincoln! I must say that I'm very impressed with this edition of the Lincoln Continental. I also have to agree with some of the other comments about how Lincoln should have introduced this way early on when it was introduced what were they thinking? Now what I think they should do is a stretched and widened version of the same vehicle and reintroduce the Town Car name and add more content to make it more Uber premium and very opulent that'll be badass for sure.
@TheAllnPttrsn5 жыл бұрын
saab23, that's the problem and yours as well. Lincoln doesn't want to be looked at as a livery service vehicle. It wants to get its foot back in the game competing with Benz and bmw and the other luxury brands. Leave what you want for Hyundai and toyota
@saab235 жыл бұрын
@@TheAllnPttrsn Ok and I get it I understand that. however Lincoln has been in the game for too many years to still be playing catch-up! So yeah I have a problem because of all the car companies you just named they used Lincoln as a template to start their own luxury brands and they are killing Lincoln at the moment, I still believe in the Lincoln brand but they just can't afford to half step end of story period. How are you going to compete when you dress up a mainstream car and not take the initiative to differentiate them to the point where the consumer cant notice the difference? at this point, people view Lincoln as a trim level of the Ford brand so at this point Ford bears a lot of responsibility for giving us that impression sorry but not sorry.
@TheAllnPttrsn5 жыл бұрын
saab23, I agree with you to a certain point. Yes we both want Lincoln to succeed and yes we both feel that Ford allowed Lincoln to slip in the luxury game and be classified as an upscale ford model, just like they did with mercury. Lincoln has to remain the trend setter and their features eventually trickle down to ford years later. However, Ford is trying to correct their wrong by differentiating Lincoln models from their model. The Lincoln Aviator and Navigator are prime example.

I don't like to be negative, but that interior is not only dreary & boring, but it looks a bit cheap, the flash of colour on the doors just looks out of place & jarring, very sad. Any classic car would walk all over this, not interested at all.
@Stressless20235 жыл бұрын
Yeah Lincoln did the Navigator, Aviator, and Corsair interior much better. But this came out first so at least they seem to have gotten better since.
@bryancopeland53255 жыл бұрын
So this has to be the cheapest looking luxury car. American cars have no idea of how to make a luxury car. There is to much plastic and cheap material used inside the interior. The manufacturer installed a bucket, opposed to a mini refrigerator, to cool ur drink. If isn't the epitome of cheapness for a luxury sedan, I don't know what is. American car manufacturers, please view the 2020 Genesis G90. The interior of the car is luxurious, and the material utilizes inside the vehicle, are absolutely first class. American car manufacturers, need to do better when making luxury cars, we're far behind, Mercedes, BMW, Volkswagen, Lexus, Audi and Genesis.

@@bryancopeland5325 Sit in one. The "design" isn't the greatest inside, I'll agree there, but the "materials" used nearly everywhere you touch are top notch in the Continental.

Is the rear seat headroom improved? That's one of the biggest issues I've seen watching other reviews of 'regular' Continentals, that if a rear passenger is over 6-foot tall, their head hits the headliner.

Beautiful sedan ...but that Lincoln Blackwood in the background looked gorgeous too ... I really hope Lincoln makes another Truck - and I hope continental becomes a sub brand of Lincoln and producers BEV-range extender that are super luxurious with sliding front and rear coach doors ... Manual sun shades on a 100k car? thats a letdown
@Stressless20235 жыл бұрын
3rd party fabricator. Ford probably turned down their bid to add power rear shades in those custom-made rear doors... Just like they probably turned down having a refrigerated box in the rear center console instead of that 1991 Town Car limo-inspired old-timey champagne cooler with the ugly wood lid.
@Mbalta0015 жыл бұрын
I think the expectations for Lincoln are way too high, manual sunshades on side doors are pretty standard on $110,000-130,000 sedans - Lincoln is offering the same shade without the markup. They aren’t custom either, they are offered in the non-stretched version. I’ve seen your other comments and those weren’t accurate either.
@Mbalta0015 жыл бұрын
SuchANiceGirl22 also, a refrigerator...? You are definitely not the target customer for this vehicle 😂
@Stressless20235 жыл бұрын
@@Mbalta001 Umm the manual rear sunshades on this car are custom like I said because the doors themselves are custom made. And apparently you haven't been in many modern $100k+ luxury sedans or limos, or you'd know that non-refrigerated champagne holders like this one are antiquated. I don't have to be within Lincoln's target audience to know how to call a spade a spade.
@Mbalta0015 жыл бұрын
SuchANiceGirl22 the doors are modified, not custom. The sunshades are existing, so you’re wrong. Which vehicles are you referencing with refrigerated ice buckets or mini fridges?
